The accompanying update described progress alongside significant ongoing impairments and therapy, based on comments from her mother—not an independent medical assessment. The sources available do not establish Rodden’s health or recovery status today.
What the 2024 photographs showed
The Nightly reported on July 30, 2024, that Rodden’s family had shared hospital photographs from shortly after the incident and a newer image from roughly two years later. The pictures offered a family-shared glimpse of that period; they do not, by themselves, establish the extent of her recovery or her present condition. The Nightly’s July 2024 report framed the images as an update from her family.
What happened at the Melbourne Royal Show
Rodden was injured in September 2022 in an incident involving the Rebel Coaster at the Melbourne Royal Show. The Nightly reported that she entered a fenced-off area to retrieve her phone and was struck by the ride. That description is a media account of the incident, not a finding about responsibility. 7NEWS also reported on the incident and later investigation.
What her mother said about her recovery in 2024
In the account published by The Nightly, Rodden’s mother, Kylie, described continuing impairments and a demanding therapy schedule. She said Rodden had lost sight in one eye and hearing in one ear, and described difficulties with smell and swallowing as well as cognitive impairments. The report also said Rodden sometimes used a walking frame or wheelchair and needed rest. These are details attributed to her mother in 2024; they should not be read as a medical assessment or as a description of Rodden’s condition now.

Kylie told the Herald Sun, as quoted in The Nightly: “Most of her days are taken up with different types of therapies.”
A milestone reported in 2023
An earlier family statement reported by 7NEWS in September 2023 said Rodden had been walking and talking and doing things doctors had reportedly thought might not be possible. That was a milestone at the time; it does not replace or update the family’s later account from July 2024.

What happened with the WorkSafe investigation
7NEWS reported on July 29, 2024, that WorkSafe Victoria had completed its investigation and decided not to take further action against a duty holder at that time. The Nightly reported that Rodden’s family had not received the findings and was seeking them. The underlying findings are not established by those reports, so the outcome should not be described as a court ruling, a finding that nobody was responsible, or a complete account of what happened. The family’s stated legal position in August 2024
In an August 2024 statement, family lawyer Sharlene Mehta said Rodden continued to require medical treatment, legal investigations were continuing, and the family was exploring possible legal action. The available sources do not establish what happened after that statement. Mehta Legal’s statement is the source for that comment.

What is known about her status now
The photographs and reporting answer what was shared and said in 2024, not how Rodden is doing in 2026. No later first-hand family update or authoritative record is established here, so a more current description of her health or the legal matter would be speculative.
