The “four-year hiatus” in the headline frames the gap between seasons; the exciting update itself came in December 2024, when a new trailer, teaser visual, and production-staff details were revealed at CCXP in Brazil.
What was the December 2024 update?
The CCXP reveal added new promotional material and staff information for season 3. It was not the first announcement of the season: Crunchyroll had announced the final season at its Anime Expo panel on July 7, 2024, with a split-cour schedule spanning April 2025 and January 2026. Crunchyroll’s July announcement established the season and its planned release windows; the December update gave fans a closer look at what was coming. The contemporaneous CCXP report was carried in an IMDb listing attributed to Crunchyroll. Read the CCXP update report.

When did the two cours air?
| Part | Schedule and availability |
|---|---|
| First cour | Crunchyroll listed the first episode for April 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. PT. Its schedule notice excluded Japan, China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Singapore, and Malaysia. See the dated schedule notice. |
| Second cour | A later report says the second cour premiered in Japan on January 10, 2026. Crunchyroll’s April 2026 report listed streaming availability for members worldwide except Japan, China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. That is a dated territory listing, not a guarantee of current catalog availability in any country. Read the later streaming report. |
Who made the final season?
Tatsuma Minamikawa returned as director, Hideyuki Morioka handled character design, Sei Tsuguta worked on scripts and series composition, and David Production animated the season. A September 2025 report citing the official anime website and accounts listed these key staff members and the planned January 2026 return for the second cour. See the staff and schedule report.
What is Fire Force about?
The series follows Shinra Kusakabe, a young firefighter with the ability to ignite his feet, as he joins Special Fire Force Company 8. The team fights spontaneous human combustion while investigating the cause of the phenomenon. Crunchyroll’s official synopsis describes a Tokyo where residents are mysteriously suffering spontaneous combustion, and says Shinra’s past and a hidden secret could put the city at risk. Where can you follow the story?
For the animated adaptation, Crunchyroll announced the season and published the dated schedule and territory information above. Streaming rights and availability can vary by date and location, so check the service’s current listing for your country rather than relying on an old schedule notice.
Readers who want the original story can turn to Atsushi Ohkubo’s manga. It ran in Weekly Shonen Magazine from September 2015 to February 2022 and is collected in 34 volumes; Kodansha USA releases an English-language edition. Crunchyroll’s 2026 report provides the adaptation background. The manga offers the original work rather than the anime’s presentation of it.
