The prison officer behind the headline “I’m literally pregnant” was Amber Clavell, a corrections officer at Geoffrey Pearce Correctional Centre in Sydney. 7NEWS reported that she pleaded guilty to six charges after a relationship with inmate Mark Kennedy, including misconduct in public office and bringing 33g of crystal meth into the prison. She was sentenced to a two-year-three-month intensive correction order and 200 hours of community service.
How the relationship came to light
According to 7NEWS’s account of what Penrith Local Court heard, Clavell’s relationship with Kennedy lasted for months. The report says she told colleague Jessica Elguindy that she was pregnant. It recounts a message from Clavell reading, “I’m literally pregnant,” followed by “I’m an idiot.” These are messages as reported by 7NEWS, not a court transcript independently reviewed here. The report does not establish the pregnancy’s outcome or provide grounds to infer the child’s parentage. 7NEWS, 9 October 2024

The drug smuggling and Clavell’s charges
7NEWS reported that the relationship ended in April, when Clavell was caught bringing 33g of crystal meth into the prison for Kennedy. The account says she pleaded guilty to six charges, including misconduct in public office, accessing and modifying restricted data, and having an intimate relationship with an inmate that caused a risk to safety. The exact day in April is not stated in the report.
Those charge descriptions and case details are attributed to 7NEWS’s report of the court proceedings. No primary sentencing judgment is cited here, so the account should not be read as a direct quotation of the court’s written reasons.

Clavell’s sentence and the separate outcome for her colleague
7NEWS reported that Clavell received a two-year-three-month intensive correction order and 200 hours of community service. The report also describes a separate case outcome for Elguindy: she admitted an inmate relationship and a restricted-data charge, and received a 12-month bond. Elguindy’s reported charges and outcome were not the same as Clavell’s six guilty pleas and sentence.
The same report says both women were dismissed by Corrective Services NSW in May. That employment action is separate from the court outcomes; the article excerpt does not specify the year of the dismissals. 7NEWS, 9 October 2024

What the headline establishes—and what it does not
The headline’s speaker was Clavell, and the phrase comes from a text message described in 7NEWS’s account. The report identifies Kennedy as an inmate and as an armed robber, but that characterization is not independently verified here. The available reporting supports the case identification, guilty pleas, sentence, drug quantity, and separate outcome for Elguindy; it does not establish further details about the pregnancy or provide the primary court judgment.
PerthNow published the matching headline and corroborates that the case concerns Clavell. PerthNow
