In First Steps, Sue can mentally bend wavelengths of light to make herself or objects wholly or partly invisible. That gives the team options for concealment and movement; her power is not just a way to disappear.

Sue can project invisible force fields to protect herself and her family. That defensive use broadens her contribution: she can help keep others safe, not merely evade notice. The film guide’s emphasis is on her role within the team, not on ranking her against the other members.

Why is Sue central to the Fantastic Four’s family dynamic?
The Fantastic Four are a family as well as a superhero team. In a July 24, 2025 interview published by The Walt Disney Company, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said, “The Fantastic Four are a family; they’re not a pantheon.” He also said the film aimed to focus on them as a family.
