Chris Jericho is the directly verified answer: WWE says he defeated The Rock for the World Championship at Vengeance 2001. The available official records confirm that result, but do not establish a complete list of every wrestler who took a world title from The Rock.
Chris Jericho took the World Championship from The Rock
At Vengeance 2001, Chris Jericho defeated The Rock for the World Championship. WWE’s official event recap records the title change and says Jericho later defeated “Stone Cold” Steve Austin for the WWE Championship, becoming the first-ever WWE Undisputed Champion.
That result is the clear, documented answer to who beat The Rock for a world title. It should not be confused with Jericho’s later victory over Austin: the Vengeance recap identifies those as separate title wins.
What counts as defeating The Rock for a world title?
This question is narrower than asking who ever beat The Rock. A wrestler qualifies only when a match result both defeats him and changes the holder of a WWE-recognized world championship. A non-title win, a successful defense by The Rock, or a title match that ends without a change does not qualify.

The wording can also cover more than the WWE Championship. WWE’s profile for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson lists both WWE Champion and WCW Champion among his credentials. Any broader list therefore needs to say which championship lineages it includes and verify the match and title change for each entry.
Why this is not an exhaustive list
WWE’s WWE Championship history documents the title’s chronology and includes The Rock among its champions. It is useful for checking the championship lineage, but a title-history page alone does not establish every opponent who defeated him for a world title across all relevant lineages.

The official records cited here verify Jericho’s Vengeance 2001 win; they do not provide a complete event-by-event ledger of all possible title-changing defeats. Without checking individual match records across the applicable championships, presenting additional names—or calling any list complete—would go beyond what those records establish.
