The demo is available to download; the trailer does not announce a full-release date.
What is Fallout: The New West?
The New West is a fan-made total conversion for Fallout: New Vegas by United West Team, not an official Fallout release or a finished remake of a completed game. It draws on broad story ideas and surviving design documents for Fallout: Van Buren, then reworks them into a playable project. The team says Van Buren was developed by Black Isle Studios in the early 2000s, cancelled in 2003, and never completed beyond pre-alpha.
The project’s overview places its story in 2253 and follows the Prisoner, a protagonist released from captivity. The creators describe the game as using a separate continuity that predates and reinterprets New Vegas. Their FAQ says it functions as a direct sequel to Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout: Tactics, while events in New Vegas are not strictly canon within this project. That is the team’s framing of its own story, not a ruling on franchise-wide canon.
Is The New West out yet?
The Tibbets Prison alternate-start demo is available through the project homepage, which links to its Nexus Mods listing. That page identifies the demo as version 7, last updated July 7, 2026. The trailer previews this demo; it is not a release announcement for the entire project. The reviewed sources do not establish a date for the full Act 1 vertical slice or a full release.

The project FAQ says development is active, but its status section still describes the alternate-start demo as planned “shortly,” followed by Act 1 as a vertical slice. That timing appears out of date in light of the published demo listing and homepage download link.
What does the Tibbets demo include?
The Nexus listing describes an alternate start in Tibbets Prison, with an optional player background, new characters and plotlines, gear and traits, and a custom intro movie. United West Team’s listing also advertises 15 voiced NPCs, more than 3,000 dialogue lines and seven voiced quests adapted from Van Buren design documents. These are project-listed feature counts, not independently audited figures.

- Courier’s Stash
The listing provides installation guidance for mod managers and notes that some assets or features require INI edits.
