Emily Alabi joined FBI in Season 7 as Special Agent Dani Rhodes. Alabi has a credit on S.W.A.T., but the casting reports do not say that Rhodes was created as a direct replacement for Lisette Olivera’s character, Syd Ortiz. Olivera left after filming several episodes and before Ortiz appeared on screen.

What happened to Lisette Olivera?
Olivera was announced as a Season 7 series regular on August 19, 2024. She played Syd Ortiz, a Behavioral Analysis Unit agent rotated onto Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jubal Valentine’s team. TVLine’s casting report described the role and her addition to the series.
On October 31, 2024, TVLine reported that Olivera was leaving after filming a handful of episodes, before her first on-screen appearance. Those already-filmed episodes were expected to air as planned. The report did not give a reason for her departure. TVLine’s departure report covered the exit.

Did Emily Alabi replace Lisette Olivera?
That is not established by the available reporting. Olivera played Syd Ortiz; Alabi played Dani Rhodes. Their Season 7 casting sequence is documented, but no cited report confirms that Alabi was hired to take Olivera’s place or explains why Olivera left. The clearest distinction is between the two characters and the known timing of their casting and departure.

The Season 7 story introduced Alabi as Dani Rhodes. By Season 9, which premiered October 5, 2026, CBS’s premiere synopsis said Maggie was struggling to bond with a new partner but did not name that partner. Paramount’s current title page lists the series at Season 9 and its principal cast; the premiere synopsis alone does not establish the new partner’s identity. Paramount’s FBI title page carries the current season information, and CBS’s FBI press materials include episode information.
