FBI Season 7, Episode 2 Review: What “Trusted” Reveals—and What the Evidence Doesn’t

In “Trusted,” FBI Season 7, Episode 2, a suburban couple is murdered and forensic evidence points to the home’s previous owner, who is serving time in federal prison. The case puts trust under pressure, but the available review excerpt does not identify the team’s supposed “biggest weakness.”

What is FBI Season 7, Episode 2 about?

“Trusted” is the second episode of the show’s seventh season. In CBS’s synopsis, investigators confront the murder of a suburban couple after forensic evidence implicates the home’s former owner, who is serving a ten-year federal prison sentence. That premise sets up a case in which evidence points toward a suspect who is already behind bars. CBS’s Season 7 episode guide lists the U.S. air date as October 22, 2024.

The case is not the episode’s only thread. Rotten Tomatoes’ episode listing says OA reunites with an old military colleague, while Scola welcomes a new partner. Milena Govich is credited as director and Aaron Ginsburg as screenwriter. Rotten Tomatoes’ listing for “Trusted” supplies those details.

Does the episode reveal the team’s biggest weakness?

The phrase comes from critic Brittany Frederick’s review for CBR: Rotten Tomatoes reproduces her line, “The team’s biggest weakness is on full display,” and lists her score as 7/10. The excerpt does not explain which weakness she means. It would therefore be misleading to treat a particular flaw—such as poor communication, overconfidence, or a failure to trust one another—as Frederick’s stated conclusion based on that line alone.

#1 Best Overall

What the premise does establish is a useful pressure point for the episode: the case asks investigators to make sense of evidence against someone already imprisoned, while the title, “Trusted,” foregrounds questions of confidence and reliability. Those details support reading trust as a theme to watch, not declaring that the episode proves one specific weakness in the team. The available information is not enough to assess how fully the episode develops that idea or how its case resolves.

Runtime and rating 41 minutes; TV-14 V (CBS)
U.S. streaming CBS says a Paramount+ subscription is required to stream the video in the United States (CBS).

Dates depend on market: Paramount+ Canada lists the episode as October 16, 2024, rather than CBS’s U.S. date, and also lists a 41-minute runtime and TV-14 rating. Paramount+ Canada’s episode page documents that listing. Rotten Tomatoes names Paramount+ as a subscription option and Fandango as a purchase option, but that directory entry does not establish a current offer or regional availability. Check the service in your market before relying on either option: Rotten Tomatoes’ episode listing.

Verdict

“Trusted” has a clear, high-stakes setup: a double murder, forensic evidence pointing to a former homeowner in federal prison, and personal storylines involving OA and Scola. The “biggest weakness” framing is part of Frederick’s quoted review excerpt, but the excerpt alone leaves the weakness unnamed. The fairest takeaway is that the premise invites scrutiny of trust; a more specific judgment about what the team gets wrong would require the full review or the episode itself.
