Erin McNaught and musician Example, whose real name is Elliot Gleave, announced in early October 2022 that they had decided to separate. Their joint statement said the decision had come at the start of the UK summer, after 11 years together. The 11 years referred to their relationship, not their marriage; reports say they married in 2013.
When did Erin McNaught and Example separate?
The couple made their announcement publicly in early October 2022. In the joint statement reproduced by PerthNow, they said they had decided to separate at the start of the UK summer. The decision and the announcement were therefore months apart.

Contemporaneous reporting described them as having been together for 11 years and said they married in 2013. Those are different durations: the statement did not say they had been married for 11 years. The Independent’s report also covered the announcement and the couple’s relationship timeline.
What did their joint statement say?
They described the separation as a mutual, amicable decision, writing that they would go their separate ways “whilst there is still an abundance of love and respect for one another.” They also said: “This is as amicable as it gets. Nobody is blaming anyone in all this.” Both quotations are from the joint statement as reproduced by PerthNow on 5 October 2022.

The pair gave no more specific explanation for why they separated. Their description of the relationship reaching a natural end is the explanation established by their public statement; claims about another cause would go beyond what they said.
Do Erin McNaught and Example have children?
They have two sons. In the joint statement, McNaught and Gleave said they had been co-parenting happily and effectively for almost half a year and that their sons were surrounded with love.

They said they had turned off comments to protect their children and close circle, asked people not to contact them about the separation, and expected to continue appearing together with their children. Those remarks describe the arrangements and boundaries they announced in 2022; they do not establish the family’s present circumstances.
