The verified candidates include Erick Rowan, King Corbin, Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes and Bronson Reed, but each needs confirmation against WWE’s official event page before being presented as a complete roster. Here, “singles PPV match” means a completed one-on-one match on a WWE pay-per-view or premium live event (PLE) card; an advertised match that never began does not count.
What counts as a singles PPV defeat?
WWE now uses “premium live event” as well as the legacy term “pay-per-view.” This list’s scope includes relevant WWE event history regardless of which label was used at the time. A match qualifies only if it was completed as a one-on-one contest. Tag matches, battle royals and multi-person matches—including triple threats and fatal four-ways—are outside the scope.
An official disqualification loss counts as a match loss under this definition, even though the opponent did not pin or submit Reigns. Interference does not change the match format: if the official result records a completed singles match as a defeat, it qualifies. To distinguish those outcomes, a reliable entry should state the finish as well as the opponent and event.
Candidate opponents—and what is verified
Historical match databases and archives surface five candidates: Erick Rowan, King Corbin, Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes and Bronson Reed. The available evidence does not include the event-by-event official WWE result pages needed to confirm every candidate, so these names should not be treated as a final or exhaustive list.

These are verification leads, not a confirmed list of every wrestler to beat Reigns on a singles event card. WWE’s official Roman Reigns profile is biographical, not a complete match ledger, and secondary databases are useful for finding possible entries rather than settling them.
Why advertised opponents and multi-person wins do not qualify
Cancelled or non-started matches
At SummerSlam 2016, Reigns and Rusev were advertised for a United States Championship match, but WWE’s event result says it did not take place after Reigns rendered Rusev unable to compete. Because the match was not completed, Rusev is not a singles-match winner over Reigns for this list.

Matches with more than two competitors
A result involving Reigns and one named opponent is not necessarily a singles result. If a third competitor or a team was part of the match, it falls outside the stated definition even if Reigns was pinned or submitted.

For an exhaustive roster, check WWE’s official result page for every candidate match and record the event, date, format and finish. Secondary databases can help locate possible matches, but they should not replace the official event record. WWE’s WrestleMania 32 result page, for example, confirms that Reigns defeated Triple H; that result is not a defeat for Reigns.
