The official anime profile says she appears connected to Aira Shiratori, while the fuller explanation of their relationship—and Silky’s tragic past—comes from a plot-heavy secondary guide. The details of that backstory and her ending are spoilers.
Who is Acrobatic Silky?
The official Dandadan anime character profile identifies Acrobatic Silky as a yokai monster. It describes her as notable for “her red dress and silky long hair” and says she “moves acrobatically.” The same profile says she seems to have some connection to Aira, but does not explain what that connection is. Read the official Acrobatic Silky profile.
What is Acrobatic Silky’s connection to Aira?
The official profile confirms a connection but leaves its meaning open. ORICON/Japan Anime News’ guide, published November 20, 2024, supplies the fuller plot account: it says a childhood encounter in which Aira called Silky “Mom” helped Silky believe that Aira was her missing daughter. That mistaken belief drives Silky’s attempt to claim Aira. Read ORICON/Japan Anime News’ character guide.
Spoilers: Acrobatic Silky’s backstory and ending
Spoilers for Acrobatic Silky’s backstory and later events in Dandadan: ORICON/Japan Anime News describes Silky as a struggling single mother whose daughter was taken by debt collectors. After Silky died, she became a yokai and continued searching for her child. The guide says she mistakes Aira for that daughter because of their earlier encounter.

In the same account, Silky eventually realizes Aira is not her child. She gives her aura to save Aira, and Aira gains a form with abilities associated with Acrobatic Silky. This tragic resolution reframes Silky’s pursuit of Aira: beneath the danger is a mother’s grief and an inability to let go of the child she lost. These backstory and ending details come from the secondary guide, not the official anime profile.
What can Acrobatic Silky do?
The official profile establishes her acrobatic movement, but not a detailed list of abilities. ORICON/Japan Anime News adds that she can manipulate her hair to restrain or attack opponents and portrays her as exceptionally agile. Those additional power details are the guide’s account rather than information provided by the official character profile.

Is Acrobatic Silky based on an urban legend?

The guide describes the legend’s figure as a tall woman in red with long hair and acrobatic movement—traits that resemble Silky’s design. This is a reported possible inspiration, not a confirmed statement of creator Yukinobu Tatsu’s intent.
