Spoilers for the Season 2 finale. By the end of Evil Season 2, David Acosta is ordained as a priest, Kristen Bouchard confesses that she killed Orson LeRoux, and Kristen and David kiss. Meanwhile, Leland Townsend’s influence reaches into the Church’s investigations and Kristen’s family, leaving several dangers unresolved.
Where the season leaves the team
Kristen Bouchard, David Acosta, and Ben Shakir continue assessing unexplained cases for the Catholic Church. Kristen is a forensic psychologist, David is training for the priesthood, and Ben contributes technical expertise. Their work repeatedly tests the line between psychological or mundane explanations and the possibility of something supernatural, while Leland Townsend works to disrupt their lives and investigations.
Season 2’s cases include assessing whether Leland is possessed, investigating a man who says he hears an angel, a girl seemingly haunted by a jinn, a missing teenager, and Father Mulvehill’s fear of diabolical oppression. Paramount Press Express’s July 12, 2021 episode-logline release covers the opening episodes; Paramount+’s official series guide provides the season’s episode structure and descriptions.
What happens in the Season 2 finale?
The cannibalism case turns into a ritual
In “C Is for Cannibal,” the team investigates Mitch, a medical student alarmed by a sudden urge to eat human flesh. He has eaten raw steak and fears what he might do near a cadaver. A reported 3 a.m. haunting at his school turns out to be a student prank. But when David investigates alone, he sees a gigantic winged demon. Sister Andrea confirms that she has encountered the same kind of presence.

David is ordained during the episode. Leland then uses his church position to take over Mitch’s case. Kristen attacks him with her high heel before he can speak privately with Mitch. At Leland’s dinner gathering, a demonic sigil on a cadaver’s head reveals that the cannibalism is part of a demonic succession ritual.

What to remember before Season 3
- David is a priest. His ordination changes his position in the Church and sharpens the conflict around his feelings for Kristen.
- Kristen has admitted to killing Orson LeRoux. David now knows what she did and hears her say she does not want to repeat it.
- Kristen and David have crossed a boundary. Their kiss leaves the consequences for their relationship, David’s vows, and Kristen’s marriage unresolved.
- Leland remains dangerous. He manipulates church processes, interferes in Mitch’s case, and has cultivated a relationship with Lexis.
- The show keeps its competing explanations in play. Cases may begin with a plausible mundane explanation, but David’s and Sister Andrea’s experience of the demon in the finale gives the supernatural reading real weight within the story.
Netflix Tudum’s Season 3 recap confirms that Kristen and David’s intimacy continues as a storyline and that the team’s cases and Leland’s schemes keep affecting Kristen’s family.
