MC Zaac’s rise began with a difficult split between music and paid work. Before “Bumbum Granada” brought him wider attention in 2016, he says he performed without pay to put his songs in front of audiences while holding jobs at three companies. Reporting on his career traces the arc from Diadema, São Paulo, through early hits and collaborations to his public defense of Brazilian funk.

Who is MC Zaac?
MC Zaac is the stage name of Isaac Daniel Júnior. A 2020 Gshow profile says he was born and raised in Diadema, in the state of São Paulo, and describes his early circumstances as modest. The profile places his career in the context of Brazilian funk, a music scene rooted in community life and creative expression.
How did MC Zaac get his start?
Before music became his main focus, Zaac worked at three companies, according to Gshow. He described trying to keep both work and music going, without being able to give all his attention to either. Some nights he performed and then went to work the next day, even when the show had paid nothing. He said those performances were opportunities to show his compositions to the public and seek recognition.

That account makes the early trade-off concrete: performing could help him build an audience, but it did not necessarily pay the bills. It is Zaac’s description of his own experience, not a claim about every aspiring musician.
What was MC Zaac’s breakthrough song?
“Bumbum Granada” brought wider attention in 2016
A 2017 UOL interview identifies “Bumbum Granada,” his collaboration with MC Jerry Smith, as the song that brought Zaac wider attention in 2016. The track marked a turning point in public recognition, following the period when he was promoting his compositions through unpaid performances.
“Vai Embrazando” followed in 2017
UOL reports that “Vai Embrazando,” written with MC Vigary, followed in 2017. Zaac described how the song came together at home: ideas and a melody emerged, and the song was finished the next day. He recalled the start in Portuguese: “A gente estava doido de catuaba e começamos a escrever lá em casa.” (“We were really into catuaba and started writing at home.” Translation.) It is one anecdote about his process, not a recipe for writing a hit.
What came after the early hits?
Zaac’s career continued through collaborations, including work with Anitta and international artists, as discussed in a September 2020 UOL interview. In May 2021, Universal Music Brasil announced the visual EP Linha de Frente. The label quoted Zaac describing it as “É a celebração ao funk que me trouxe até aqui, que me transformou no que sou hoje” (“It is a celebration of the funk that brought me here, that transformed me into who I am today.” Translation.) The announcement is a dated release milestone; it does not establish current catalog availability.

In a UOL Play interview, Zaac connected funk to the community and to the experiences and inventiveness of the people who make it. He said: “O funk é uma parada da comunidade, é a verdade e a criatividade de muita gente ali.” (“Funk is something from the community; it is the truth and creativity of a lot of people there.” Translation.) His comments frame the genre not just as the setting for his hits, but as a central part of his identity and the path that shaped his career.
