The linked answer
SQUAD at 6-Across and GOALS at 3-Down cross to make SQUAD GOALS, the puzzle’s linked phrase and main wordplay feature. Forbes contributor Paul Tassi reported that YEAS first struck him as AYES and that PIQUE caused a spelling stumble; those are his solving impressions, not measures of the puzzle’s difficulty. Forbes’ November 13, 2024 answer article gives the source clues and solution.
What the NYT Mini is
Forbes described most daily Minis as five-by-five grids with three to five clues in each direction, while noting that puzzles can be larger, especially on Saturdays. Tassi called the Mini “a fun daily distraction that usually takes no time at all.”
In its November 2024 account, Forbes said the daily Mini was free to play on the New York Times website or in the NYT Games app, while older archive puzzles required an NYT Games subscription. That is a dated description; current access and subscription terms are not established here.
