Escape This’s Singles Night gives Perth singles a structured alternative to a conventional first date: meet a blind match, then tackle escape-room puzzles together. How Escape This Singles Night works
Escape This describes Singles Night as an experience designed by relationship expert Dr Nikki Goldstein. Interested participants register and are redirected to a compatibility quiz. The operator says there is no payment upfront; it will contact applicants about next steps if they are selected. Its current FAQ says session dates depend on demand and group availability.
The current operator information lists two Perth locations: 712–720 Hay Street Mall and 48 Lake Street, Northbridge. The event is strictly for people aged 18 or older, has no maximum age, and welcomes all sexualities and gender identities. Registrants can indicate their matching preferences.
What was announced at launch
In a PerthNow report published on 11 August 2025, the launch format was described as two blind matches and 30-minute sessions in a custom-designed escape room. The report said the event would begin at the Hay Street Mall venue on a Tuesday and then run on the second Tuesday of each month. That was the schedule announced at launch; it is not a confirmed current calendar. What the compatibility quiz says—and does not say
The launch report said the quiz grouped participants into one of seven relationship problem-solving styles. These are labels used for the event, not established psychological categories or a validated measure of compatibility.

What the game can reveal on a first date
The event’s premise is that a shared task and time pressure can prompt conversation and give people a chance to notice how they collaborate. Goldstein told PerthNow that an escape room can show how someone responds under pressure and act as a “catalyst for conversations.” That is her rationale for the format, not evidence that a short game can reliably forecast a relationship.
In the launch report, Goldstein suggested noticing behaviours such as blaming a partner, bulldozing their ideas, taking over the whole task, staying passive or giving up quickly. She also cautioned against treating one moment as an automatic reason to dismiss someone. A puzzle can be confusing, and people may react differently to nerves, unfamiliarity or the room itself; if something stands out, discussing it afterwards is more useful than treating it as a diagnosis.

Is this the right kind of date for you?
Singles Night may suit people who would rather have a shared activity than rely on conversation across a table. Before registering, consider whether you are comfortable with a timed puzzle and an unfamiliar match, and ask the organiser about practical needs that matter to you.
- Format: Confirm whether the current session involves one-to-one blind matches or another group arrangement; the two-match, 30-minute format comes from the 2025 launch report.
- Room and sensory needs: Ask which room is used and whether its lighting, sound, physical layout or puzzle style is suitable for you.
- Cost and timing: Confirm the admission price and next available date before making plans; neither is stated in the current information described here.
- Matching: The operator says registrants can state preferences. Ask how those preferences are used if you need more detail about the process.
PerthNow also reported in August 2025 that Escape This planned Relationship Nights for couples, including a quiz intended to highlight how partners solve problems together. The current Singles Night information does not establish whether those sessions are presently available.
