In a September 2024 interview with TV Insider, she answered: “I don’t know if that would ever happen, but I’d be interested if the right idea came up.” David Boreanaz has also said he would revisit the series, most recently in July 2026, while noting that bringing the cast together could be difficult. Neither actor’s comments confirm a revival.
What Emily Deschanel said about a revival
Asked directly in September 2024 whether she would do a Bones revival, Deschanel expressed conditional interest: “I don’t know if that would ever happen, but I’d be interested if the right idea came up.” She also suggested that younger actors might play younger versions of the characters. Her answer leaves open what form a return might take; it is not a commitment to reprise Temperance Brennan in a project currently being developed.
Deschanel played forensic anthropologist Brennan in the Fox series, which ran for 12 seasons from 2005 to 2017. TV Insider’s interview also records her recollection that the show had 246 episodes. The outlet describes the series as based on Kathy Reichs’ life and novels.
What David Boreanaz has said
Boreanaz, who played FBI agent Seeley Booth, has voiced interest in returning at more than one point. In an August 2024 TV Insider interview, he said he would welcome seeing Booth and Brennan again.

In remarks reported by Parade on July 14, 2026, Boreanaz said he would revisit the show to see where its characters are now: “I always said that was the one show that I would definitely revisit, as far as going back, because it would be going back and seeing where these characters are now.” He also pointed to a practical hurdle: “Just getting everybody involved would be tricky, be honest with you.” The comments came from an interview at the 2026 Italian Global Series.
