The March 2017 report about Emma Watson concerned stolen photos from a clothes fitting—not nude photographs, according to a statement from her publicist. It was separate from a 2014 nude-photo threat that Watson later described as a hoax. Neither report establishes that new images are appearing online now.
What happened with Emma Watson’s leaked photos?
On March 15, 2017, TIME reported a statement from Watson’s publicist: “Photos from a clothes fitting Emma had with a stylist a couple of years ago have been stolen. They are not nude photographs. Lawyers have been instructed and we are not commenting further.”
The statement said the photos came from a clothing fitting and had been stolen. It did not identify who took or circulated them, or describe what legal action would follow. The report is historical; it does not establish that images are appearing online now.
Were Emma Watson’s leaked photos nude?
No. The publicist’s statement about the photos reported in 2017 explicitly said they were not nude photographs. That answer applies to the clothes-fitting photos in that report.

Were Emma Watson’s nude photos real?
The 2014 nude-photo threat was a separate incident, not evidence that nude pictures of Watson existed. TIME reported that the countdown threat was a hoax. Watson later said: “I knew it was a hoax, I knew the pictures didn’t exist.”
What can someone do if private sexual images are shared?
For people dealing with image abuse, Google’s current guidance describes a process to request removal of eligible personal sexual imagery from Search, including fabricated imagery. The process uses the image viewer’s removal flow and distinguishes real images shared without consent from fake or AI-generated imagery. Depending on eligibility, a requester may be able to report multiple results and select ongoing protections. See Google’s removal guidance for requirements and steps.

Report the Search result and the hosting site separately
Removing a result from Google Search does not remove the image from the website hosting it. Google recommends contacting the site owner or using that site’s reporting process. Its guidance also points to StopNCII.org and regional support organizations.
Consider local legal and support options
Legal remedies differ by location. Google advises consulting a lawyer or other qualified expert about rights in the relevant jurisdiction; its guidance on personal content removal provides additional context.
