The booking followed her public defense of Carrie Underwood and criticism of Joy Behar and the show. When Hasselbeck and Behar appeared together on March 3, they exchanged a warm greeting on air.
When Hasselbeck returned to The View
ABC announced on February 27 that Hasselbeck would guest co-host Monday through Friday, March 2–6, 2026. The ABC announcement lists her for each day. Contemporary coverage reported that she was filling in while regular co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin took maternity leave; ABC’s announcement confirmed the dates but did not give that reason. TV Insider’s coverage described the fill-in arrangement.

This was a guest-host week, not an announced return to the regular panel. Hasselbeck was a co-host from 2003 to 2013, according to TV Insider.
What Hasselbeck said about Joy Behar
The dispute arose after Behar criticized Carrie Underwood’s performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration. TV Insider reported that Hasselbeck defended Underwood on social media, posting on X, “That @TheView @JoyVBehar needs to simmer down off my friend,” and writing in an Instagram Story, “Joy — @carrieunderwood is an INCREDIBLE WOMAN. You could learn from her strength.” These quotations are reported by TV Insider; the original posts were not separately verified here.

On Fox News’ Hannity, Hasselbeck reportedly called Behar’s criticism “nothing more than selfish personal publicity-gaining” and said Behar wanted to attach her name to Underwood because “she knows the ship is sinking.” She also criticized The View, describing it as a show that “refused to put anyone there who has a lick of sense on most days.” These are Hasselbeck’s reported opinions, not established facts about Behar or the program. TV Insider reported the remarks and their context.
Despite the criticism, Hasselbeck said in an Instagram Story to executive producer Brian Teta that she was “excited to go back,” was “honored that they asked me,” and considered the group “a really intelligent group of women.”

How Behar and Hasselbeck greeted each other
On March 3, when Behar playfully interrupted an introduction with “Thank you, I’m back,” Hasselbeck replied, “I missed you yesterday!” Behar answered, “I missed you, too,” and Hasselbeck said they were “like family.” Contemporary coverage of the exchange described the reunion as warm. The on-air greeting does not establish that their earlier disagreement was formally resolved.
