Argentine singer Jonathan Müller, known as “El Villano,” publicly said he received a positive HIV test result, according to reports published May 1, 2025. The disclosure is his account; the reports do not independently establish his medical records or current health details.
What Jonathan “El Villano” said about his HIV diagnosis
People en Español reported that Müller announced his HIV status in a video. In his account, he went to a doctor after experiencing abdominal discomfort and weight loss, and said that tests included a positive HIV result.
The outlet also reported that Müller said his partner of two years tested negative. That is a detail from his account as covered by the outlet, not an independently verified result for either person. He said in the video: “Tengo HIV y todos mis amigos y familiares se están enterando a través de este video, porque no quería que nadie me pare por hacerlo…”
Infobae later reported on an interview in which he discussed the emotional impact of going public and said he wanted to use his platform to encourage people with concerns to get tested. Those feelings and motivations are his, as attributed in the interview.

What is—and is not—known about his health
The reports establish that Müller publicly described receiving a positive HIV result. They do not independently confirm his medical records, current treatment regimen, viral load, or prognosis. A positive HIV result is not, by itself, an AIDS diagnosis.
HIV treatment and transmission: facts that apply generally
HIV can be treated with antiretroviral therapy (ART). The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that people diagnosed with HIV start treatment as soon as possible. These general recommendations do not establish what care Müller is receiving.

When a person taking ART has an undetectable viral load, they do not transmit HIV through sex, according to the World Health Organization and the CDC. Neither outlet’s reporting on Müller establishes his viral load, so no conclusion about his individual transmission risk can be drawn from it.
HIV does not spread through ordinary contact such as hugging, kissing, or sharing food. Casual contact with a person living with HIV is not a transmission risk.

Getting tested or finding care
If you have concerns about HIV, contact a qualified health service for testing and follow-up. A diagnosis should be made through an appropriate testing strategy with confirmation, as the WHO explains; a screening result should be discussed with a health professional who can guide the next steps and connect you to care.
For people in Puerto Rico, the Puerto Rico Department of Health lists testing at clinics and health centers and describes testing as potentially rapid, safe, and confidential. This is a Puerto Rico resource, not a directory for Argentina or other locations; elsewhere, seek a local public-health service or qualified clinic.
