Dragon Age: The Veilguard offers console graphics modes aimed at either visual quality or smoother play, while its PC version includes ultrawide support, uncapped frame rates and several upscaling options. EA says PS5 and Xbox Series X|S target 30 FPS in Fidelity mode and 60 FPS in Performance mode. Those are targets, not guarantees of a locked frame rate—and the available specifications do not establish which platform looks or runs best in independent testing.
Does Dragon Age: The Veilguard run at 60 FPS?
On PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, EA lists a Performance mode targeting 60 FPS and a Fidelity mode targeting 30 FPS. A target describes the mode’s aim; it does not guarantee that the game will hold that rate in every scene. EA’s specifications do not provide measured frame-rate stability or image-quality comparisons for these consoles. EA’s console mode details are the basis for the stated targets.
What the console modes prioritize
| Platform or mode | Frame-rate target | Visual features established by EA |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, Fidelity | 30 FPS target | Fidelity mode; EA does not state a resolution figure in the cited specifications. |
| PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, Performance | 60 FPS target | Performance mode; EA does not state a resolution figure in the cited specifications. |
| PS5 Pro, Fidelity and Performance | Uses the corresponding mode targets above | BioWare says resolution and visual settings improve in both modes; Performance mode adds ray-traced ambient occlusion. |
What does PS5 Pro improve?
BioWare Technical Director Maciej Kurowski says PS5 Pro improves resolution and visual settings in both Fidelity and Performance modes. He also identifies a specific ray-tracing addition: “We’ve enabled Raytraced Ambient Occlusion (RTAO) in the 60FPS Performance mode, which previously was only available on the base PlayStation 5 with 30FPS Fidelity mode.” This is BioWare’s feature description, not an independent measurement of the Pro’s image quality or performance. EA’s Specifications Spotlight was published October 15, 2024.
Which platform looks best?
There is no evidence here to declare one platform the universal visual winner. The console specifications describe targets and PS5 Pro features, while the PC feature list describes options rather than how a particular computer performs. A PC with suitable hardware can offer more control over resolution, frame rate and image settings; the actual result depends on the machine and the settings selected. Console buyers can choose between the stated Fidelity and Performance targets, with PS5 Pro offering the additions BioWare describes.

Ultrawide cinematics
EA says cinematic black bars can be removed by turning off the “Cinematic Aspect Ratio” setting. This is useful if you want cinematics to fill an ultrawide display rather than retain the presentation’s black bars.
Graphics and ray-tracing controls
PC graphics presets are Low, Medium, High and Ultra. The listed controls include ray-traced reflections, ray-traced ambient occlusion and Ultra Ray Tracing, as well as options for strand hair, terrain, effects and the camera. EA describes Selective ray tracing as enabling ray-tracing features in selected areas considered best suited to them.

How much PC testing did BioWare report?
In its PC features article, published August 21, 2024, BioWare said PC accounted for 40% of its platform testing effort and reported more than 200,000 hours of performance and compatibility testing. It also reported close to 10,000 hours of user-research testing focused on controls and UI. These are developer-reported figures, not independent certification or a guarantee that every PC configuration will perform well. BioWare’s account of PC features and testing provides that context.
