Jack has described both parents as encouraging and available for advice. Those remarks offer a public glimpse, not a complete account of their private relationship.

In a 2024 interview with Parade, Dennis was asked whether he and Jack might appear together in a father-son film. He replied, “I would love to do it. We’re just waiting for the right thing to come along.” Dennis added that Jack did not need his help and said, “I’m so proud of him for that.” His answer expresses admiration and interest in working together; it does not mean a film is planned.

After seeing Jack in Novocaine, Dennis praised his performance in a 2025 interview with Us Weekly: “He’s so good. He really proved — and I really felt [this] beforehand — that he can carry a picture.” The same report said Dennis was proud of his son’s career.
A wedding brought back an emotional memory
At a screening, Dennis spoke about Jack’s wedding in remarks reported by Parade on September 5, 2026. The occasion reminded him of taking Jack to the airport when Jack left for New York University in 2010. Dennis said, “It just, it really gets emotional. You remember everything all at once. That just takes you by surprise.” This is a public expression of feeling about a family milestone, rather than a report of a private conversation between the two.

How Jack has described his parents’ support
In an account quoted by Us Weekly, Jack said both parents encouraged him when he told them he wanted to act. The 2025 article also recounts Jack describing his parents as people he could ask for advice when he needed help calming down. That testimony supports the impression that he has viewed them as a source of encouragement.
What his parents’ divorce does—and does not—tell us
Jack’s parents, Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan, divorced, and the public attention around it was part of Jack’s childhood. In a 2016 interview reported by ABC News, Jack called the media attention difficult to ignore. He also said that, despite his parents’ careers, at home “they are still a mom and a dad.”

Those comments describe his childhood and his parents’ separation from each other. They are not evidence that Jack and Dennis are estranged, nor do they establish what their relationship is like day to day.

The public evidence supports a cautious answer: Dennis speaks with pride and affection about Jack, and Jack has described his parents as supportive. That suggests they get along, but interviews and public remarks cannot establish how often they see or speak to each other, whether they have had disagreements, or every private dimension of their bond.
