For an Eid al-Adha card, “Eid Mubarak” is a simple, widely recognized greeting. Add a personal sentence and a wish for a joyful, blessed celebration. Because Eid’s Gregorian date varies by year and location, confirm the date with your local mosque or relevant authority before mailing a card or adding the date to it.
What to write in an Eid al-Adha card
A useful message has three parts: a greeting, one sentence that feels right for your relationship, and a closing wish. Keep the language and level of religious expression suited to the person receiving it; not everyone prefers Arabic wording or a devotional message.
Short greetings
- Eid Mubarak means “Blessed Eid.” Islamic Relief describes it as the most universally recognised Eid al-Adha greeting.
- Eid Sa’id means “Happy Eid” and works as a brief alternative.
More personal or devotional wording
After the greeting, you might write: “Wishing you and your family peace, joy, and many blessings this Eid.” For someone who welcomes a more explicitly devotional note, “Taqabbal Allah minna wa minkum” means “May Allah accept from us and from you,” according to Islamic Relief.
Make the middle sentence specific where you can: mention a shared memory, send good wishes to the recipient’s family, or simply say you hope you can celebrate together soon. These are suggested original messages, not fixed religious formulas.

Choosing a physical or printable card
Both formats are options; the right one depends on how you want to send the greeting and how much time you have. The Greeting Card Association describes physical Eid cards and suggests crescent moons and geometric patterns as possible design motifs. Those are design examples, not religious requirements or universal preferences.
| Format | What it offers | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Physical card | A card you can write in and send or give in person; the Greeting Card Association describes physical Eid cards. | Allow enough time for delivery, particularly if your local Eid date is not yet confirmed. |
| Printable/downloadable card | Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Foreign Trade offers a page to add a name, preview an Eid card, and download it. | Check the preview and arrange printing or digital delivery in time for your recipient. |
When selecting a card, consider whether its wording matches your recipient, whether there is room for a personal note, and whether the format suits your delivery plans. No one format or visual style is established as a general preference among Muslim readers.

When to send an Eid al-Adha card
Eid al-Adha falls on 10 Dhul Hijjah, but its Gregorian date changes each year because the Islamic calendar is lunar. The date may be determined through local moon sighting or by a calendar authority, so a date announced for one place may not apply everywhere.
For 2026, Islamic Relief lists Wednesday, 27 May as Eid al-Adha, following the Day of Arafah on 26 May. Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court announcement also identified Wednesday, 27 May as Eid in Saudi Arabia, after setting 1 Dhul Hijjah to 18 May according to the Umm al-Qura calendar. These dates apply to 2026, not to future years as a fixed rule.

Eid al-Adha is one of the two annual Islamic Eids and commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s sacrifice. Qurbani, the sacrifice associated with the observance, is also connected with helping people in need; Islamic Relief describes it as a way to support the poor and needy. A card can acknowledge the occasion warmly without reducing the holiday to a decorative theme or commercial celebration.

These are examples from particular places, not customs shared by every Muslim family.
Is it permissible to make or sell Eid al-Adha cards?
IslamQA’s published answer dated 26 December 2012 says that making and selling cards for Islamic festivals, including Eid al-Adha, is permissible when the wording is prescribed or otherwise permissible according to sharee’ah. That is the position expressed in that answer; readers seeking religious guidance for their own circumstances can consult an authority they trust.
