On March 4, 2026, the official ONE PIECE.com site said Oda recorded the answer on a sheet of paper as part of a project marking the manga’s worldwide circulation milestone.
What did Oda announce about the One Piece?
The Japanese announcement asks, “What is ONE PIECE?” and says that although the answer had been described as decided since the story began serialization in 1997, Oda had now written the secret down on a single sheet for the first time. This is an account from the official site, not a direct quotation from Oda.
The crucial distinction: the site announced that the secret had been written down; it did not publish the note or tell readers what it says. The announcement therefore confirms a milestone in recording the answer, not a public revelation of the treasure’s identity.
Why was the note written?
ONE PIECE.com’s March 4, 2026 announcement tied the project to the worldwide circulation of more than 600 million copies and to the release of manga volume 114 on the same date.

The site reported more than 600 million copies in worldwide circulation, comprising more than 450 million domestic copies and more than 150 million overseas copies. Those are circulation figures, not a claim about paid sales.
Does volume 114 contain the answer?
The official notice establishes that volume 114 was released on March 4, 2026; it does not say the book contains Oda’s note. The physical volume and the commemorative project are related by timing, but readers should not treat the new volume as a published copy of the secret.

A separate ONE PIECE.com post from July 24, 2026 marks the series’ 29th-anniversary milestone with a special video and a handwritten message from Oda. That anniversary item is distinct from the March note project and does not establish that the hidden answer was released.
