Reports differ on the precise introduction: TIME wrote that Sheeran invited her to Taylor Swift’s Fourth of July gathering in Rhode Island, while later accounts also describe a mutual friend connected with his tour as part of how they reconnected. The shared chronology is that they met again in 2015 and began dating.

Sheeran announced their engagement in January 2018, saying he had “got myself a fiancé just before new year.” In the announcement quoted by TIME, he added: “We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx.”
When did Ed Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn get married?
Sheeran later described their wedding as a very small private ceremony held at night on a random day in the middle of January. He confirmed publicly in July 2019 that they were married. In a later account quoted by Good Morning America, he said: “Our actual wedding was a tiny, tiny event with basically no one there.” They subsequently held a larger celebration.

The exact ceremony date is not established in these accounts. Although reports at the time speculated about a December 2018 wedding, Sheeran’s later description places the private ceremony in mid-January.

They have two daughters:
