Its waist-length hair and missing eyebrows make it instantly recognizable; the transformation is described as stronger than Super Saiyan 2 and capable of rivaling Majin Buu, but it costs Goku energy.
What is Super Saiyan 3?
Super Saiyan 3 is a stage in Goku’s Super Saiyan progression, introduced during the Majin Buu portion of the story. The official Dragon Ball recap places its reveal as Majin Buu heads toward West City. Goku uses the transformation in that confrontation, making it a pivotal display of power in the Buu crisis.
How can you recognize the form?
The defining visual cues are Goku’s dramatically lengthened hair, which reaches his waist, and the absence of eyebrows. The official franchise feature on Goku’s forms highlights those traits as the form’s unmistakable look.
How powerful is Super Saiyan 3?
The official recap describes Super Saiyan 3 as “far more powerful than Super Saiyan 2 and rivalling even Majin Buu.” That is a qualitative comparison within the story, not a numerical multiplier or a universal ranking against characters in other series.
