The tattoo fans associate with Taylor Kinney is an anchor on Lady Gaga’s ribcage, but whether it is still there is unconfirmed. Gaga’s reported caption linked the design to “His Mermaid”; it did not confirm that the tattoo was a tribute to Kinney.
Which tattoo are fans talking about?
Cosmopolitan’s tattoo inventory, updated July 26, 2024, identifies an anchor on Gaga’s ribcage, below her “Mother Monster” tattoo. It dates the anchor to 2012, during the Born This Way tour in Amsterdam. The article reproduces Gaga’s caption: “New Tat. Stamp of His Mermaid.” (Cosmopolitan)

Was the anchor confirmed as a Taylor Kinney tribute?
No. Fans speculated that the anchor referred to Kinney, who played a mermaid opposite Gaga in the “Yoü And I” video. Cosmopolitan says Gaga never confirmed that interpretation, so it is more accurate to call it a tattoo fans associate with Kinney than a confirmed tribute. (Cosmopolitan)
Kinney is the actor to whom Gaga was engaged in 2015, according to Vogue’s September 5, 2024 interview. That relationship context does not establish the tattoo’s meaning. (Vogue)

Is it still on her body?
The available reporting does not establish whether the anchor remains on Gaga’s body in 2026. It would be inaccurate to say it is still there—or that it was removed—without direct confirmation or reliable, clearly dated evidence.
A tattoo missing from a photograph is not proof of removal. Glamour reported in 2016 that Gaga’s tattoos were concealed with makeup for a public appearance, showing that tattoos can be hidden in images; that report says nothing specific about the anchor’s present status. (Glamour)
