Dua Lipa and Chris Stapleton released a live recording of “Think I’m in Love With You,” captured during their surprise performance at the 59th Academy of Country Music Awards. It is an ACM Awards live single—not a new studio duet or a track on Stapleton’s Higher album.
What did Dua Lipa and Chris Stapleton release?
The collaboration is a recording of the pair performing Stapleton’s song live at the 59th ACM Awards in Frisco, Texas. Mercury Nashville announced the release on May 20, 2024, describing it as recorded at the awards the previous week. Apple Music catalogs it as a one-song single by Chris Stapleton and Dua Lipa, dated May 1, 2024. Those are distinct dates: the platform’s catalog date and the label’s announcement date.
The label also identifies Stapleton’s band, The Honchos, as part of the performance. The available release information describes a live single; it does not establish a separate studio duet version.
How is the live recording different from the original?
| Recording | Context and performers | Release information |
|---|---|---|
| Original “Think I’m In Love With You” | Chris Stapleton’s original song, written by Stapleton and recorded for Higher. | Debuted September 8, 2023; Higher was released November 10, 2023. |
| Live ACM Awards performance | Chris Stapleton and Dua Lipa, with Stapleton’s band The Honchos; recorded at the 59th ACM Awards. | Apple Music lists the single date as May 1, 2024; Mercury Nashville announced it May 20, 2024. |
The live duet is not identified as a track on Higher. That album contains Stapleton’s original recording.

They kind of called us up and said, ‘Hey, she would like to do this.’ I was like, ‘Are you sure?’ And she’s like, ‘Yeah!’” He also recalled that they spoke by phone and worked on the song a little before performing it. The interview describes Lipa’s appearance as unannounced.
Is the official music video the live duet?
No. The official music video announced August 29, 2024 is for Stapleton’s original song from Higher. It is not identified as a video of the ACM Awards duet.
