What had Swift said about Harris?
After the September 10 debate, Swift announced on Instagram that she would vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential election. She described Harris as a “steady-handed, gifted leader” and said she believed the country could accomplish more under leadership marked by calm rather than chaos. The Guardian reported both statements in its coverage of Trump’s response.
What happened between the endorsement and Trump’s post?
The publicly reported sequence is straightforward: Swift endorsed Harris and Walz after the debate on September 10, and Trump posted his message on September 15. That timing does not by itself establish why he posted it or show that Swift’s endorsement caused his reaction.

There was earlier context: TIME reported that Trump shared AI-generated images in 2024 that appeared to suggest Swift supported him. Swift referred to false endorsement imagery in her own endorsement post. That earlier episode is documented in TIME’s account, but it does not prove Trump’s private motive for the September 15 post.
