What happened at Paddlefish?
The incident occurred shortly after midnight on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Paddlefish, a restaurant in Disney Springs at Walt Disney World. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office initially described an “unknown man [who] entered the business after hours, took some cash and left,” according to WDW News Today’s account.
WDW News Today relayed further details from WFTV 9’s reporting on a sheriff’s office report. The man reportedly swam to the restaurant, stored his wetsuit and scuba gear, and entered the manager’s office while two employees were counting cash for a safe. He allegedly forced them into a corner and told them to close their eyes; WFTV 9’s sources said he tied them up.
How long did the robbery take, and how much was taken?
Employees reportedly said the man was inside for less than two minutes before leaving. The reported amount stolen was between $10,000 and $20,000, making $20,000 the upper end of the reported range rather than a confirmed exact total. Was the suspect caught?

What happened after the suspect left?
The employees reportedly freed themselves and called 911. Reports said nobody was injured and no weapon was brandished. Investigators reportedly believed the suspect put on his scuba gear and returned to the Disney Springs lake; an immediate search did not find him. The reporting does not establish his precise route to or from the water.

What remains unknown?
The reviewed reports do not establish the suspect’s identity, motive, exact amount taken, where the gear was stored, or whether anyone helped him. They also do not confirm that he had prior knowledge of the restaurant’s cash-handling routine.
