Asrar is the stage name of Pakistani singer-songwriter Syed Asrar Shah. A 2015 profile connected his story and music to Azad Kashmir, Hyderabad in Sindh, and Lahore—and introduced listeners to the buoyant folk-rooted song “Mast Hua.” The word “phenomenon” in that feature reflects its 2015 framing, not a measure of his current popularity.
Who is Asrar?
Asrar is Syed Asrar Shah, a Pakistani singer-songwriter and composer associated with Lahore. A secondary biography gives his birth date as April 20, 1985, and describes his music as Punjabi, Sufi rock, and pop; those details are reported biographical information rather than an independently verified artist statement. Last.fm’s biography
Asrar’s SoundCloud profile says he was born in Azad Kashmir and that his family moved to Hyderabad in 1992. It also says he met Ustad Sultan Ahmad Khan in 2005, who taught him classical music fundamentals. The secondary biography places his move to Lahore in 2007. These accounts outline the places associated with his background, but they should be read as attributed timelines, not as a complete or independently confirmed biography. Asrar’s SoundCloud profile
What does Asrar’s music sound like?
Coverage presents Asrar as a folk-oriented artist with Punjabi and Sufi-rock associations. Rather than treating those labels as a formal definition of his sound, the reporting offers a more concrete entry point: folk-rooted and devotional material brought into contemporary songs and videos.

The feature that supplied the “musical phenomenon” framing was published in 2015, when its writer was drawing attention to Asrar and his work. The dated recordings and video coverage make that period’s public presence easier to trace.
