Niall Horan, Jack O’Connell and Robert Lindsay have the clearest documented ties to the Rams; George Clooney’s connection is more tentative, and a fifth name, Graham Coxon, is not well verified. The list below distinguishes those levels of evidence rather than treating every celebrity link as equally established.
1. Niall Horan
Former One Direction member and solo singer-songwriter Niall Horan is arguably the most internationally recognizable name among Derby’s documented supporters. Derby County called him a “world-famous Rams fan” in a 2021 club article and reported that he visited the team’s training camp. His support was also evident in a BBC Sport interview published on 18 August 2025, after Derby lost 5–3 to Coventry. Horan said: “I get very emotional being at Pride Park, I just love this place. I love the ground, I love the vibe it gives off. I just love Derby County.” BBC Sport’s interview with Horan captures his connection in his own words.
Derby County’s 2021 profile of Horan also describes his visit to the training camp.
2. Jack O’Connell
Actor Jack O’Connell was born in Derby, and his connection to the club is more than hometown association. In 2018, the University of Derby identified him as a Derby County supporter when awarding him an honorary degree. O’Connell said: “My acting career has taken me around the world, but it all started for me in Derby so the city will always be an important part of who I am – I’m still a massive Rams fan.” The University of Derby’s announcement includes the quote. The club had also named him an ambassador for its 2014/15 charity partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support, describing him as a Rams fan.

Derby County’s 2014 announcement documents that role.
3. Robert Lindsay
Actor Robert Lindsay is described by Derby County as a lifelong and proud supporter. In a 2019 club profile, he said work often kept him from visiting Pride Park, but he followed the team wherever he was. His voice also has a place in the matchday experience: Lindsay’s recording can be heard on “Steve Bloomer’s Watchin’,” played at Pride Park on matchdays. The club’s interview with Lindsay gives more detail on his support and the song.

4. George Clooney
George Clooney’s Derby link comes with an important qualification. ITV News Central reported in May 2015 that O’Connell had introduced the actor to the Rams, after which Derby’s sponsor sent Clooney a signed team shirt and an invitation to a match. That supports a story of interest sparked through O’Connell, not a claim that Clooney has been a lifelong or regular supporter.
The account is also complicated by O’Connell’s own response. Asked about bringing Clooney to Derby, he said at a 2015 BAFTA press conference: “There has been a lot made of this. I don’t remember ever saying that.” ITV News Central’s report describes the reported introduction and invitation; BAFTA’s transcript records O’Connell’s qualification.

5. Graham Coxon — a less certain candidate
Blur guitarist Graham Coxon appears on a secondary celebrity-fan compilation, but a club profile, direct statement or strong independent confirmation is not established here. He is therefore a possible fifth name, not a securely documented counterpart to Horan, O’Connell or Lindsay. The compilation naming Coxon is the basis for including him as a candidate, not proof of the strength or duration of his support.

“Most famous” is subjective: there is no measured ranking or official top-five list. The strongest evidence is direct or club- and university-documented support for Horan, O’Connell and Lindsay. Clooney’s connection is a reported introduction, while Coxon’s claim rests on a secondary compilation. Those differences matter more than a false impression that all five have the same relationship with Derby County.
