What happened after the statement?
The Dutch court application
In March 2026, reports said the Amsterdam District Court rejected Lewis’s application to prevent Sanne van Ooijen from making or repeating statements online. According to Rolling Stone AU/NZ, the court’s reasoning included that van Ooijen’s posts did not name Lewis, leaving it unclear whether they referred to him. Lewis’s spokesperson disputed that basis and said the decision did not find the allegations true or determine the underlying facts.
The proceeding concerned whether van Ooijen could make or repeat statements; it was not a ruling that established the truth of all the allegations about Lewis. The court account here is based on contemporaneous reporting, rather than direct review of the full judgment.

The same Rolling Stone AU/NZ report said Evie Smith later posted an apology, saying she had made serious claims without properly checking them. Lewis said the situation had harmed his reputation, career, and personal life, and asked supporters not to direct abuse or harassment at Smith. Her apology concerns her own claims; it should not be treated as a retraction by other people who made allegations.
