A nude leotard underneath provided coverage, while black sandals and Messika diamond jewelry completed the look.
What Dakota Johnson wore to the Los Angeles premiere
Johnson’s dress was a custom Gucci creation, reported by Marie Claire and described by Good Morning America as a sparkling netted gown that mimicked a spider web. The pattern offered a visual connection to the film’s spider theme, though the coverage does not include a direct statement from Johnson explaining her choice.
Sheer netting, a nude underlayer, and a split hem
The embellished net was sheer over a nude leotard, creating the effect often called a “naked dress.” Marie Claire noted that the web detail continued across the back, which had a deep V, and that the gown featured a split hem. The same report identified black sandals, a diamond pendant necklace, and diamond rings by Messika.
Why the gown was linked to the film
The web motif made the gown an evident visual match for Madame Web. Vogue discussed it in the context of film-referencing fashion, sometimes called “method dressing,” and noted that it was among the first red-carpet looks from Sabato De Sarno’s Gucci. That is a fashion-editorial framing, not confirmation of Johnson’s personal intent.

The Rio web dress was a different look
Johnson also wore a web-themed outfit during the film’s press tour, but it was not the premiere gown. At the Vogue Carnival Ball in Rio on February 3, she wore a sheer black, crystal-beaded dress with a web pattern and a cape-hood. Vogue identified that outfit as a gown-length version of an Annie’s Ibiza cobweb mini dress. The Los Angeles premiere look, by contrast, was custom Gucci.

Makeup artist Georgie Eisdell’s account of the beauty look
In a Bustle interview, Johnson’s makeup artist Georgie Eisdell said she used a CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Face Mask for 10 minutes as skin preparation. Eisdell said the aim was to calm skin after travel and repeated makeup application; that is her stated rationale, not an independently established clinical result.
Eisdell also named Armani Beauty products used for the look: Luminous Silk Hydrating Primer; Luminous Silk Perfect Glow Foundation in shade 2; Eye Tint in shades 56S and 2S; Eyes to Kill Mascara in black; High Precision Brow Pencil in shade 3; Luminous Silk Glow Blush in shades 11 and 61; Fluid Sheer Glow Enhancer in shade 2; and Lip Power Satin in shade 102. How to take inspiration from the look
The Gucci gown was custom, and the cited coverage does not establish that an identical retail version is available. For an inspired-by outfit, search for a sheer crystal mesh dress and assess how much coverage its underlayer provides, whether the embellishment creates a web-like effect, and whether the back and hem resemble the silhouette you want.
