Danny Bonaduce posted “I lived, bitch” on June 6, 2023, one day after undergoing brain surgery. His wife, Amy, had said the operation went according to plan and that he was doing well. The update was a brief, upbeat message—not evidence of a full recovery or his health today.
When Bonaduce posted the message
Bonaduce, the actor and radio host known for The Partridge Family, underwent brain surgery on Monday, June 5, 2023, according to reports published in the days that followed. On June 5, his wife Amy wrote: “It’s been a long day but I just wanted to let you guys know that Danny’s surgery went according to plan and he’s doing well.”
The next day, Bonaduce shared the short message “I lived, bitch.” TheWrap and E! News reported the post on June 7. TheWrap’s report also attributed an estimate of several weeks for recovery to Bonaduce’s agent, Paul Anderson.
Why he had brain surgery
Contemporary coverage identified hydrocephalus as the reported reason for the procedure. Before surgery, Bonaduce had described difficulty walking, balance problems and changes in his speech. E! News reported that he said doctors believed he had hydrocephalus and planned to place a shunt to drain fluid. E!’s account and TheWrap’s report use different wording for the device and procedure; the available reporting does not justify specifying more than that a procedure to address the condition was planned.

What the update did—and did not—say
Amy’s message reported that the surgery had gone according to plan and that Bonaduce was doing well immediately afterward. His own post marked that moment with humor. Neither statement establishes that the operation cured his condition, how his recovery progressed, or what his health is now. In comments reported before the operation, Bonaduce expressed uncertainty about the result and focused his hopes on being able to move around day to day.
