Who was sued, and why?
The complaint names MrB2024 LLC, Amazon Alternative LLC and Off One’s Base LLC. The plaintiffs, identified anonymously in contemporaneous coverage, were five former contestants in the first season of Beast Games, hosted by Jimmy Donaldson, known as MrBeast, and made for Amazon Prime Video. The contestants brought the case as a proposed class action. That means they seek to represent a wider group, but the case summary says a class had not been certified as of mid-2026. Filing a proposed class action does not itself establish that a class exists or that any allegation is true.
What do the contestants allege?
Unpaid work, breaks and expenses
The plaintiffs say contestants performed work under production control but were treated as participants or volunteers. They allege they were owed minimum and overtime wages, did not receive required uninterrupted meal and rest periods, and were not reimbursed for some expenses. Safety and basic needs
The complaint alleges unsafe production conditions and inadequate provision of basic needs. Separately, the Associated Press reported contestant safety complaints about “limited sustenance” and “insufficient medical staffing.” That reporting provides context about complaints surrounding production; it does not independently prove each allegation in this lawsuit. Harassment and related claims
The suit includes allegations of sexual harassment and failure to prevent harassment, as well as negligent infliction of emotional distress, unfair business practices and false advertising. The complaint’s inclusion of a claim is not a court’s conclusion that the conduct occurred.

The advertised contestant count
Amazon’s initial description of the show, as reported in 2024, touted 1,000 contestants competing for a $5 million prize. The plaintiffs allege that 2,000 people initially competed and that contestants were told the larger number after the show had been promoted with the smaller field. They argue the discrepancy misrepresented their odds of winning. The 2,000 figure is an allegation described in coverage, not a judicial finding that the promotion was deceptive. What have MrBeast and Amazon said?
When the lawsuit was filed, the Los Angeles Times reported that representatives for Amazon and MrBeast had not immediately responded to requests for comment. Later, The Independent reported footage in which Donaldson said some claims were untrue, specifically mentioning claims about broken bones and hush money. That is a reported response from Donaldson, not independent proof that the complaint is false. The Independent’s report.

Does a separate investigation resolve the lawsuit?
No. In November 2024, the Associated Press reported on a company-commissioned investigation into broader workplace allegations. The AP said the review found no proof of sexual misconduct allegations against MrBeast team members. That company-wide review is separate from the contestants’ lawsuit and is not a court ruling on the claims in this case. The AP’s report.
