Netflix’s interactive-video era is over as a current catalog: Black Mirror: Bandersnatch and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend, reported as the last two holdouts, left the service on May 12, 2025. That date is reported by What’s on Netflix; it is not a guarantee about every country’s historical availability. This guide ranks the complete known lineup of Netflix-produced or Netflix-distributed interactive video—not titles you can assume are playable today.

“Shows and movies” is shorthand for a varied catalog: films, comedy and survival specials, quizzes, wellness programming, interactive episodes and children’s adventures. The ranking favors how well a title’s choices serve its genre and audience, not simply how many branches it offers. Netflix’s library varied by region and changed over time, so the catalog should be read as a historical record rather than a claim of universal availability.

What counted as a Netflix interactive title?

These programs let viewers select on-screen options that routed them to different scenes, sequences, outcomes or quiz results. The experience was more than a conventional film with alternate endings listed in a menu: choices were built into playback, and the branches could converge again. What’s on Netflix’s catalog overview describes choices tied to points in the video and a viewing interface that did not use the normal progress-bar experience.

The format varied substantially. Bandersnatch and Kimmy vs. the Reverend use narrative branching; You vs. Wild turns choices into survival decisions; Trivia Quest and Cat Burglar use quiz answers to advance; and Headspace: Unwind Your Mind lets viewers choose a relaxation path. Many children’s titles use lighter, shorter detours rather than wholly separate stories.

  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

This list excludes mobile games, Netflix Stories games, ordinary films promoted with a “choose your ending” concept but no viewer controls, polls and extras, and immersive attractions. Netflix’s games catalog is a separate category, even when a game uses interactive fiction or a Netflix property. Minecraft: Story Mode is a boundary case: it was a Netflix-distributed interactive adaptation connected to Telltale’s game, not a conventional Netflix-made original series.

How the ranking works

The order is an editorial judgment, not an objective score. It weighs narrative quality and meaningfulness of choices most heavily, then how naturally interaction fits the genre, replay value, production and interface, and suitability for the intended audience. A children’s adventure is judged as children’s entertainment, not as adult science fiction. A title can have many choices without making them especially consequential.

  • Narrative quality: 25%.
  • Meaningfulness of choices: 25%.
  • Fit between interaction and genre: 20%.
  • Replay value: 15%.
  • Production and interface: 10%.
  • Audience fit and accessibility: 5%.

The complete known catalog, ranked

1. Black Mirror: Bandersnatch — interactive science-fiction film

The catalog’s most ambitious use of branching video makes the viewer’s control, and its limits, part of the story. Choices about Stefan’s life connect directly to the film’s concerns with agency, manipulation and determinism; the live-action performances and production give those questions weight. Rewatching can expose materially different routes, though the structure can feel maze-like and some decisions repeat. Its top position reflects artistic integration and craft, not ease of viewing.

2. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend — interactive comedy special

The established ensemble and character-based humor make this a natural home for branching comedy. Choices create jokes, detours and consequences, making it more playful and accessible than Bandersnatch. Some decisions function mainly as joke delivery, and the special is most rewarding if you already know the series.

3. You vs. Wild — interactive survival series

The format suits the premise: viewers direct Bear Grylls through decisions that affect a mission, with consequences that are immediate and easy to understand. Netflix’s official title page describes viewers making key decisions to help him survive and complete missions. The appeal is broad and replay is straightforward, but repeated attempts reveal constrained outcomes and a carefully produced version of danger rather than an open-ended survival simulation.

4. Cat Burglar — animated trivia comedy

A fast, colorful quiz drives the action, giving this short-form title a clear mechanic and a strong visual identity. The trade-off is that trivia can overwhelm the story; wrong answers may feel punitive rather than dramatically interesting. It is a better fit for viewers who enjoy rapid-fire quizzes than for those seeking a branching narrative.

  • What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.

5. Carmen Sandiego: To Steal or Not to Steal — animated heist adventure

Viewer decisions fit a mission built around planning and theft, and the franchise gives the family adventure a recognizable world. Its branches are relatively straightforward and offer limited emotional depth, but choices generally feel connected to the objective. It is one of the stronger family-friendly entries.

6. Choose Love — interactive romantic comedy

This title uses viewer choices to steer Cami’s relationships and career, a premise Netflix outlines in its Tudum overview. The routes and endings are easy to follow, and its light tone makes it accessible to viewers who do not want a puzzle-box drama. Some decisions feel dictated by rom-com mechanics, however, and the premise promises more replay variation than the experience delivers.

7. Trivia Quest — interactive daily quiz series

Netflix framed this as a 30-episode daily interactive series. Each episode had 24 multiple-choice questions with four possible answers, according to the company’s launch announcement. That scale and short-session structure give it a strong quiz loop, but knowledge matters more than narrative judgment: the story is secondary, and the title plays more like gamified trivia than a conventional show.

8. Headspace: Unwind Your Mind — interactive wellness special

Choice is functional here: viewers can select a relaxation or meditation direction instead of making decisions for dramatic stakes. It works best when judged as guided wellness programming, not a story. Its value on a return visit depends on a viewer’s personal need for a particular kind of relaxation.

9. You vs. Wild: Out Cold — interactive survival movie

A focused mission makes this a relatively approachable entry point, especially for younger viewers. It is less expansive than the series, and some choices can feel shallow or turn survival into trial and error, but the mission structure remains clear.

10. Animals on the Loose: A You vs. Wild Movie — family survival adventure

The rescue premise gives the viewer several objectives to follow, with a possible secret mission. Netflix’s Media Center description calls it an approximately 90-minute interactive movie. Its mission-based progression is easy to grasp, though some choices are obvious and the movie structure is thinner than the concept suggests.

11. Escape the Undertaker — interactive WWE horror-adventure special

Horror, escape-room logic and WWE personalities make a memorable combination, and the format demonstrates how interactivity can support event entertainment. Tonal shifts can be jarring, however, and the result is more of a genre gimmick than a substantial story. Its best audience is likely WWE or horror fans.

12. Captain Underpants Epic Choice-o-Rama — children’s comedy adventure

The broad humor and easy-to-read stakes suit younger viewers. Silly prompts are the point, but repetition becomes apparent and the choices are simple rather than deeply consequential. It is a better match for children than for adults looking for complex branching.

13. The Last Kids on Earth: Happy Apocalypse to You — children’s action-adventure

The existing franchise world makes an accessible setting for an interactive adventure. Its branches tend to converge quickly, which limits replay value, and it is less distinctive than the strongest children’s entries. Younger fans are the clearest audience.

14. Barbie Epic Road Trip — family adventure

The travel structure makes choices simple to follow, and the familiar franchise is an obvious draw. The decisions carry little dramatic consequence, though, so it plays more as an accessible brand extension than as ambitious interactive storytelling.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

15. We Lost Our Human — animated interactive adventure

This high-concept, kid-friendly premise offers room for character-driven choices. The experience sits between an interactive movie and a children’s game, and repeated scenes can make the branching design feel repetitive. It is best suited to younger viewers comfortable with revisiting material.

16. The Boss Baby: Get That Baby! — children’s interactive special

A clear objective and familiar characters make it easy for children to operate. The format is highly formulaic, with minimal consequences for many choices, so its chief appeal is the brand and simple play.

17. Spirit Riding Free: Ride Along Adventure — family adventure

The gentle tone and straightforward decisions fit the series’ adventure format. Its stakes and replay variation are limited, making it more useful as an extension for fans than as a standout interactive work on its own.

18. Johnny Test’s Ultimate Meatloaf Quest — children’s comedy special

This short, energetic quest has an easy-to-understand objective and broad comic style. The story is thin, and noise and repetition do more work than meaningful branching; its audience is consequently narrow and young.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

19. Buddy Thunderstruck: The Maybe Pile — animated comedy special

As an early experiment in a low-stakes comic format, it has novelty value for animation fans and is short enough to be accessible. Its choices have limited consequences, and the result feels more like a collection of bits than a complete adventure.

20. Stretch Armstrong: The Breakout — action-adventure special

An action premise can support decision points, making this a useful example of Netflix testing interactive franchise storytelling. The character and story work are thin, though, and the branches can feel mechanically imposed rather than essential.

21. Puss in Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale — children’s storybook adventure

One of Netflix’s early interactive children’s productions, it uses Puss in Boots and a storybook setup to move between routes and genres. The premise is flexible, but choices often produce short detours rather than substantially different stories. Its historical importance is stronger than its execution.

22. Minecraft: Story Mode — interactive adaptation

The familiar game universe and choice-based storytelling make this a logical fit for interactive viewing, and its story is more substantial than a short special. But it was an adaptation connected to Telltale’s existing game rather than a wholly original Netflix interactive production, so it is an awkward measure of Netflix’s own creative experiment. Its inclusion also blurs the boundary between interactive video and games.

23. Triviaverse — interactive trivia special

This lightweight quiz is easy to understand and suited to a quick session. It offers little story, so it is better thought of as an interactive quiz than as a film or series.

24. Ranveer vs Wild with Bear Grylls — celebrity survival special

The celebrity-hosted wilderness premise gives its choices a natural adventure frame. Much of the appeal rests on Ranveer Singh’s presence, and its reach is less universal for English-language viewers than Netflix’s flagship interactive titles. The available record and critical discussion are also thinner than for the best-known entries.

25. Battle Kitty — children’s interactive series

Battle Kitty is often grouped with Netflix’s interactive children’s programming, but its format and availability history are less consistently documented than the core catalog. It belongs at the edge of a comprehensive known list, not as an unquestionable example of the format.

  • Most dated by its early-format limitations: Puss in Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale, whose historic novelty exceeds its branch depth.

Which titles can you still watch?

Do not treat historical inclusion as proof of current Netflix availability. The last two reported holdouts, Bandersnatch and Kimmy vs. the Reverend, left Netflix on May 12, 2025, according to removal coverage. Earlier departures included Minecraft: Story Mode and Puss in Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale. Availability varied by territory, and a Netflix interactive genre page can remain online as a category page without proving its titles are playable. Check a title’s current regional listing before relying on it.

Bear Grylls material also illustrates why format matters: What’s on Netflix reported that some interactive specials were re-released as linear versions. A linear edit is not the same experience: it can omit the choice prompts, alternate routes and endings that defined the interactive version.

Why the old titles are difficult to preserve

An interactive title is not just a video file. Its choices depend on platform logic that routes playback to different scenes. A clip, archived listing or linear re-edit may preserve images and dialogue without preserving the original decision points or alternate paths. Rights and platform support can also complicate a straightforward re-release. The survival of some footage therefore does not establish that the original interactive experience remains accessible.

Why did Netflix stop making interactive videos?

The available record establishes that Netflix’s interactive-video catalog was retired, but it does not establish one official cause. It would be misleading to say the format ended because it failed, lost money or encountered a particular technical problem without direct confirmation. Netflix’s much larger current games operation is a separate interactive strategy, not evidence by itself of why the video experiment ended.

How to think about the experiment

Netflix’s interactive catalog was not one genre or one level of ambition. It ranged from a formally integrated science-fiction film to a daily quiz, a meditation guide and children’s franchise adventures. Its strongest titles made the decision mechanic feel native to the material; its weaker ones used choices as brief diversions or prompts. The best historical ranking therefore rewards fit and execution, not sheer branch count.
