Streaming Enhanced is a third-party browser extension that claims to skip ads and other interruptions on several streaming sites. It may also skip intros, recaps and credits, but it is not a guaranteed way to remove every paid commercial: the project specifically describes some features as skipping self-promotional ads, and its Prime Video ad support is marked as dependent on uBlock Origin. It is intended for browser playback, not the official streaming apps on TVs, phones or consoles.
What Streaming Enhanced is
Streaming Enhanced is an extension by developer Dreamliner. It is distributed through the Chrome Web Store and Mozilla Add-ons, and its source code is available on GitHub. It modifies supported services when you watch them in a compatible browser; it is not a Netflix, Amazon, Disney or other streaming subscription, and the listings do not indicate affiliation with those services.
The extension advertises playback controls as well as skipping features, including custom playback speed, fullscreen options, volume control by scrolling and TMDB ratings. Its listings also describe keyboard shortcuts, though exact behavior can vary by service and configuration. These are developer-listed features, not independently verified guarantees.
Which services and features are listed?
The listings name Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ (with references to Hotstar and STAR+), Crunchyroll, HBO Max and Paramount+. The project’s feature matrix and the store listings do not describe every feature consistently, so treat this as a list of services the developer names—not proof that every function works on every service, region or title.

| Service | Features described by the project | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Netflix | Ad blocking; intro, recap and credit skipping; suppression of the “Are you still watching?” prompt; profile selection; and removal of Netflix games from the interface. | The documentation does not establish that every form of paid or dynamically delivered advertising can be blocked. Site changes may break features. |
| Prime Video | Skipping self-promotional ads; filtering paid titles from the home page; moving “Continue” higher; hiding X-Ray Quick View; and removing the hover blur effect. | The project’s feature matrix marks ad support as “✅ (Ublock),” indicating a uBlock Origin dependency or fallback for that feature. Filtering paid titles changes the home page; it does not unlock them. |
| Disney+ | Skipping self-promotional ads; the Firefox listing also describes an arrow-key feature. | Self-promotion skipping is not a promise to remove all paid commercial breaks. Regional variants may behave differently. |
| Crunchyroll | Profile memory, release-calendar filters, expanded video and changes to numpad controls. | The project matrix does not show uniform ad support; some ad handling is marked unavailable or uBlock-dependent. |
| HBO Max | Listed as supported, including Android desktop-mode support. | The available feature descriptions do not independently confirm each function or its current reliability. |
| Paramount+ | Named in the Firefox listing and project feature table. | Feature coverage is less fully documented than for Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+. |
See the project’s compatibility and feature information and the Firefox Add-ons listing for the developer’s current descriptions.
What “skip ads” means here
Streaming interruptions are not all the same. A paid commercial inserted into a program, a trailer promoting another show on the same service, and a paid title displayed in a home-page row are different things. Streaming Enhanced’s documentation explicitly describes self-promotional-ad skipping for Prime Video and Disney+, and home-page filtering for paid Prime Video titles. Those claims do not show that the extension removes every paid commercial break.

- Ultra-speedy streaming: Roku Ultra is 30% faster than any other Roku player, delivering a lightning-fast interface and apps that launch in a snap.
- Cinematic streaming: This TV streaming device brings the movie theater to your living room with spectacular 4K, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision picture alongside immersive Dolby Atmos audio.
- The ultimate Roku remote: The rechargeable Roku Voice Remote Pro offers backlit buttons, hands-free voice controls, and a lost remote finder.
- No more fumbling in the dark: See what you’re pressing with backlit buttons.
- Say goodbye to batteries: Keep your remote powered for months on a single charge.
For Netflix, the listing claims general ad blocking, but the available documentation does not establish that it works against every advertising format or delivery method. For live programming, sports, news and other dynamically inserted streams, the sources do not establish that ads can be removed. Intro, recap and credit skipping is a separate convenience feature, not ad blocking.
How to install it
Chrome on a computer
- Open the official Chrome Web Store listing.
- Select Add to Chrome and confirm the installation.
- Open the extension’s settings and choose which features to enable.
- Visit a supported streaming service in the same browser and start a video. The project says a service’s DRM component is installed automatically on first playback; reload the page if needed.
Firefox on a computer
- Open the Mozilla Add-ons listing.
- Select Add to Firefox and review and confirm the requested permissions.
- Open the extension settings, then visit a supported streaming site and start playback.
- Reload the page if the player is not detected immediately.
Android browser
The project documents use through Firefox, Kiwi Browser or a similar Android browser that can install extensions. This means browser playback, not use inside a streaming service’s official Android app. The project’s compatibility table marks Netflix as unsupported on Android; it lists Prime Video through a modified desktop website, Disney+ through its default desktop website, and Crunchyroll and HBO Max as supported. These are project-reported compatibility notes, not a guarantee for every device or regional site.

Where it does not apply
A browser extension does not automatically run inside Netflix, Prime Video or Disney+ apps, or on a smart TV, Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV or game console. The documented route is a compatible browser. If you mainly watch through native TV or console apps, this extension is unlikely to address your viewing setup.
Compatibility may also differ by country, service domain, subscription tier, title and whether you use a desktop site or mobile site. The listings reference regional Disney+ variants and multiple country domains, but do not provide a complete regional compatibility chart.

What to try if skipping fails
- Reload the streaming page. The project says reloading may be necessary after the service initializes DRM playback.
- Check that the extension is enabled for the site. Browser settings, private-window permissions or site-specific controls can prevent an extension from running.
- Review the extension’s settings. The advertised features are configurable; confirm that the relevant skip option is turned on.
- Temporarily disable conflicting extensions. Other content blockers, script blockers, privacy tools or player modifications can interfere. If that changes the result, re-enable extensions one at a time to identify the conflict.
- Use a documented browser and device combination. On Android, try the desktop-site mode where the project specifies it; Netflix is listed as unsupported there.
- Check the GitHub issue tracker. The developer directs users there when site changes disrupt features.
The developer warns that streaming services can change their interfaces or playback behavior and that fixes may not be immediate. The project is maintained by a single developer, so a breakage may persist while a fix is developed.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Privacy and security: what to weigh
The developer’s Chrome and Firefox disclosures say the extension does not collect data, or that data collection is not required. Those are developer disclosures, not an independent privacy audit. The Firefox listing requests access to streaming-service domains including Netflix, Prime Video and Amazon country domains, Disney+ and related regional domains, Max/HBO Max, Crunchyroll and Paramount+, as well as some API domains. Site access is consistent with modifying those sites’ players, but it is still broad access to pages where you may be signed in.

The project publishes its code on GitHub under the GPL-3.0-only license, and the Chrome listing labels it as following recommended extension practices. Public source code and store review signals are useful context, but neither is a professional security audit or proof that every installed build is risk-free. Install only from the official Chrome Web Store or Mozilla Add-ons listing, and review the permissions before confirming.
How current is the extension?
As checked in August 2026, the Chrome listing showed version 1.1.105, an August 8, 2026 update, about 50,000 users and a 4.7/5 rating from 197 ratings. The Firefox listing showed the same version and update date, about 11,106 users and a 4.6/5 rating from 124 reviews. Store counts and ratings change over time; they indicate listing activity and user feedback, not that every feature works reliably on your setup.
Who should use Streaming Enhanced?
- It may suit you if you watch on desktop Chrome or Firefox and chiefly want intro, recap or credit skipping, browser playback controls, or help with some self-promotional interruptions.
- It is a weaker fit if you need guaranteed removal of every commercial, watch mainly in TV or console apps, or want a vendor-backed solution with assured compatibility.
- On Android, check the exact service first. The documented support is browser-based and service-specific, and Netflix is marked unsupported.
- For Prime Video ad handling, account for the stated uBlock Origin dependency. The project’s matrix marks the feature as uBlock-dependent; combining extensions does not guarantee that current ad delivery will be blocked.
An official higher-tier or ad-free plan is the more supported route and is generally designed to work across a service’s official apps and devices. Streaming Enhanced is a browser-focused, unofficial alternative whose behavior can change with the player. No current plan names or prices are included here, so compare the service’s own terms for your region before deciding.
