Yes—you can watch Netflix on two devices at once if your plan allows at least two simultaneous streams. In Netflix’s U.S. plan information checked on August 18, 2026, Standard with ads and Standard allow two supported devices to stream at once; Premium allows four. Premium is not necessary if two streams are all you need.
Set up Netflix on two devices
- Check your plan. In Netflix, open your account or membership settings and confirm that the plan permits at least two simultaneous streams. If Netflix is billed through a TV, mobile, or other provider package, check that package’s plan details too.
- Open Netflix on both devices. Use the app or browser on supported TVs, streaming players, game consoles, phones, tablets, or computers. Installation and sign-in menus vary by device; Netflix provides device-specific instructions in its Help Center.
- Sign in and choose profiles. You can use the same profile or different profiles on the two devices. Separate profiles keep recommendations and viewing histories distinct, but do not increase the stream allowance.
- Start playback on each device. If both titles play, the account is set up for two concurrent streams.
Which Netflix plans allow two streams?
The following figures are from Netflix’s U.S. plan information checked August 18, 2026. Prices can change, and the amount offered to you may depend on country, taxes, or how the subscription is billed. Confirm the current offer on your Netflix account or signup page before changing plans; Netflix explains that prices and features may change in its plan and pricing guidance.
| Plan | Concurrent streams | Other listed features | U.S. listed price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard with ads | 2 supported devices | 1080p; downloads on 2 devices; ads; some titles may be unavailable; no extra members | $8.99 per month |
| Standard | 2 supported devices | 1080p; downloads on 2 devices; ad-free; may allow 1 extra member | $19.99 per month |
| Premium | 4 supported devices | 4K/HDR and spatial audio; downloads on 6 devices; may allow up to 2 extra members | $26.99 per month |
Features, stream limits, and listed prices are from Netflix’s plan information. Extra-member eligibility and capacity can vary by billing arrangement. Netflix says its Basic plan has been discontinued, but a legacy account or provider package may have different terms; check the plan displayed in your account rather than relying on an old plan name.
Choose based on what you need
- Two streams at the lowest listed direct-plan price: Standard with ads, if ads and possible title restrictions are acceptable.
- Two ad-free streams: Standard, if 1080p is enough.
- Three or four household streams, 4K/HDR, or more download-device capacity: Premium. Its extra capacity is not needed just to watch on two devices.
What “two devices” means—and what it does not
- Simultaneous streams are the number of devices that can actively play Netflix at the same time. This limit is set by the plan.
- Signed-in devices are devices associated with the account. Netflix says it does not limit the number of devices that can be used, but the number playing at once remains plan-based. See its guidance on devices and simultaneous viewing.
- Profiles separate viewing histories and recommendations. Creating another profile does not add a stream.
- Downloads are offline viewing, with a separate device allowance. They are not the same as simultaneous streaming; the plan table above lists Netflix’s current download-device limits.
- Netflix Household refers to the devices connected to the internet at the main place where the account holder watches Netflix. Netflix uses signals such as the internet connection, IP address, device IDs, and account activity; it does not use GPS to pinpoint devices. See Netflix Household information.
Two devices in the same home
Two people in the same Netflix Household can normally watch on separate TVs or other devices at once, provided the plan has enough streams. The devices can play different titles and use different profiles. For reliable household recognition, connect the TVs to the home’s established internet connection.

If a home has multiple Wi-Fi networks, Netflix may associate the Household with only one. A TV connected through another ISP account or external IP address may be asked to verify itself. Netflix’s steps for confirming or changing the Household are in its Household management guidance.
Watching from two different homes
A person outside the account owner’s Household generally cannot use the ordinary household login as a permanent second-home arrangement under Netflix’s current sharing rules. The options are an eligible extra-member slot or a separate account. Eligibility may depend on the plan, country, and billing provider; Netflix describes the rules in its account-sharing and extra-member guidance.

Add an extra member
Where offered, the account owner buys a slot and invites the other person. Netflix’s U.S. plan information checked August 18, 2026, listed extra-member prices of $7.99 per month with ads or $9.99 per month without ads, per member. The actual offer shown in the account controls. Extra members must activate in the same country where the owner created the account, receive separate login credentials, and can watch on one device at a time with one profile. They cannot be added to ad-supported plans, and some third-party billing arrangements do not support them. See Netflix’s extra-member requirements and its explanation of the one-profile, one-device limit.
Use a separate account
A separate account is a better fit if the other household wants multiple profiles, more than one simultaneous stream, independent billing, or an account in another country. Netflix’s signup page is netflix.com/signup. If Netflix is included with a provider package, check the provider’s rules before trying to add a member or changing the subscription; package restrictions are described in Netflix’s partner-billing guidance.

Fix a “too many people are using your account” message
This message means the account has reached its plan’s active-stream limit. If you recognize the other playback, stop it there first. Netflix says another device may take about 5–10 minutes to become available after a stream is stopped.
- Stop playback on a device that is no longer being watched, then close Netflix on that device.
- Wait 5–10 minutes before trying again if the second device is still blocked.
- If you do not know what is using the stream, review recently watched or signed-in devices in your account.
- Sign out of unfamiliar devices, or use the account’s “Sign out of All Devices” option. If access looks unauthorized, change the account password as well.
- If legitimate viewers regularly exceed the plan’s stream allowance, choose a plan with enough concurrent streams.
These steps and the possible delay are in Netflix’s stream-limit troubleshooting guidance.

Fix a “not part of your Netflix Household” message
This is a Household-recognition issue, not necessarily a stream-limit issue. For a TV that belongs in the main home, update the Household while that TV is connected to the preferred home internet connection:
- Connect the TV to the main home network.
- Open Netflix and its menu, then choose Get Help or Settings.
- Select Manage Netflix Household.
- Follow the prompts to confirm or update the Household from that network.
- If the problem persists, review signed-in devices, sign out of unfamiliar or stale devices, and try the Household update again from the main home connection.
Do not update the Household from a hotel, vacation rental, or another home if the goal is to make the main home’s TVs recognized. Netflix’s instructions and network notes are in its Household update guidance.

Use Netflix while traveling
Traveling with a personal phone or tablet is different from establishing a second home. Signing in on a hotel or vacation-rental TV may prompt a temporary verification flow; Netflix’s instructions may offer I’m Traveling or Watch Temporarily and require a one-time code. The precise prompt can vary by device and situation. Consult Netflix’s travel and device guidance if the TV requests verification.
Moving to another country is not ordinary travel: Netflix says a member must cancel and restart the membership in the new country to change the billing country and currency. Catalog availability can also differ. See Netflix’s guidance on moving countries.
Check device and plan compatibility
Netflix is available on many smart TVs, streaming devices, game consoles, phones, tablets, computers, browsers, and some cable boxes or provider packages. Support varies by model and provider, and an older device may not support every current plan feature. Search Netflix Help Center for “Using Netflix on” followed by the device or provider name.
The ad-supported experience has additional compatibility limits: some older devices may not support it, and Netflix says casting or mirroring from a mobile device to a TV is unavailable for that experience. Check Netflix’s ad-supported device guidance before choosing an ad plan for a particular setup.
