Yes, you can generally stream Netflix on a JetBlue flight using the airline’s complimentary Fly‑Fi Wi‑Fi. JetBlue says Fly‑Fi supports streaming, but it does not guarantee uninterrupted Netflix playback on every aircraft or route. Connect and try streaming if you like—but download your shows or films before departure if you need dependable viewing.
Does JetBlue Wi‑Fi work with Netflix?
JetBlue advertises Fly‑Fi as fast, free, gate-to-gate Wi‑Fi at every seat on every plane, and describes it as suitable for streaming. That means Netflix can generally be used on your own compatible phone, tablet, or computer when Fly‑Fi is working. JetBlue does not promise Netflix-specific performance or a fixed speed, however, so buffering or interruptions remain possible. See JetBlue’s Fly‑Fi information and its description of streaming over Fly‑Fi.
Fly‑Fi provides internet access, not a Netflix subscription. You still need your own authorized Netflix access, a compatible device, and enough battery to watch. Free connectivity also does not mean unlimited capacity for every passenger to stream at high quality at once.
How to connect and watch Netflix
- After boarding, turn on Airplane Mode, then turn Wi‑Fi back on. Follow crew instructions if connectivity is restricted during any phase of flight.
- Choose the aircraft’s Fly‑Fi network in your device’s Wi‑Fi settings.
- If a connection page does not open automatically, open a browser and follow the on-screen instructions. The sign-in page and labels may change, so use the page presented on your flight rather than relying on a particular address.
- Once connected, open the Netflix app or website, sign in, and start a title.
- If playback buffers, try a lower playback quality and stop other bandwidth-heavy activity on your device.
Why streaming may buffer or fail
Being connected to the aircraft’s Wi‑Fi network does not guarantee a strong internet connection. Performance can vary with the aircraft’s equipment, route and satellite coverage, weather, passenger demand, or a temporary system fault. JetBlue says coverage can vary by aircraft and notes that Fly‑Fi may be unavailable on certain flights outside the contiguous United States. Its Customer Service Plan explains those limitations.

If Netflix opens but will not play, first check whether another ordinary webpage loads. Then close and reopen Netflix, try the app if you were using a browser (or vice versa), and temporarily turn off a VPN or privacy relay if you use one. If the video starts but repeatedly buffers, pause cloud backups and photo syncing, avoid video calls, and use only one device for streaming. If those steps do not help, switch to a download.
Multiple devices, app updates, and background syncing all compete for shared onboard bandwidth. JetBlue has described Fly‑Fi as supporting multiple devices, but that is not a guarantee that several simultaneous Netflix streams will be smooth.

Download Netflix before departure for reliable viewing
Offline downloads are the safest plan when a title matters, the route may include an uncovered segment, or buffering would be a problem. Netflix supports downloads in its current app on compatible Android phones and tablets, iPhones and iPads, Amazon Fire tablets, and Google Chromebooks with the Google Play Store. Downloads are device-specific; a title saved on your phone will not automatically be available on your tablet or laptop.
- Before leaving for the airport, connect to reliable Wi‑Fi and update the Netflix app.
- Open each title you want and look for the download option. Not every Netflix title is available to download.
- Download several episodes or films, then open the app’s Downloads section to confirm they are there.
- Test a downloaded title before boarding, ideally with the device offline. Stay signed in: Netflix requires you to remain signed in to access downloads, and downloads can expire.
- Charge your device and bring a charging cable. If you use a power bank, check current airline rules for carrying it.
Netflix recommends downloading over Wi‑Fi, which can also avoid using mobile data. For the current device requirements and download limitations, see Netflix’s download help page.

Can you watch Netflix on JetBlue’s seatback screen?
Do not assume the seatback display is a screen for your personal Netflix account. JetBlue’s seatback entertainment and its onboard Wi‑Fi are separate services: Netflix streaming is normally done on your own device, while seatback screens provide JetBlue’s entertainment selection. JetBlue’s aircraft systems and available catalogs vary; its 2025 Form 10-K describes differences in aircraft entertainment equipment. A movie or live-TV option in JetBlue’s system is not the same as access to Netflix’s catalog.

Fly‑Fi availability can vary by aircraft and route, including on some flights outside the contiguous United States. If the network is not available, check the aircraft’s built-in entertainment for available movies or live TV, use your verified Netflix downloads, or play other content saved locally on your device. You can also ask a crew member whether the system is expected to return.
