The GamesHub interview does not date that pursuit or confirm an offer, agreement, or current move.
What Jericho said about AEW pursuing Styles
In a GamesHub interview conducted in the UK during Fozzy’s 2026 tour, Jericho recalled: “There was a time when we were going after him when his contract was up.” GamesHub says it edited the transcript for clarity, removing filler words and false starts while preserving Jericho’s natural voice. This is Jericho’s account of past interest, not an official AEW announcement.
The interview question asked whether Styles could be a good fit in AEW, citing his final WWE match at the Royal Rumble. Jericho answered, “Of course he would be,” and praised Styles as “a great performer and a great guy.” Read the GamesHub interview.
Why Jericho said a move would be unusual
Jericho contrasted how WWE and AEW run their companies, while making clear he was not speaking for Styles. He said he did not know why someone would retire in one promotion and then “immediately go somewhere else,” but added, “I’m sure it’s always a possibility.” His comments describe his view of the situation; they do not establish what Styles wants or plans to do.

What the interview does—and does not—confirm
Fightful reported the comments on March 26, 2026, attributing them to GamesHub. Its report framed the question amid discussion of Styles’ retirement after losing to Gunther at WWE’s Royal Rumble; it also noted that Styles had dismissed the idea of joining AEW. Read Fightful’s report.
Jericho did not say when AEW pursued Styles, identify a contract-expiration year, or describe a formal offer or negotiation. The interview also does not announce a signing or indicate that a move is underway. Its firm news is narrower: Jericho says AEW had gone after Styles at some point when his contract was up.
