They later spent time together again, but ABC reported that their relationship ended for good in September 2021.
How Clare Crawley and Dale Moss met
Crawley and Moss met while filming season 16 of The Bachelorette in 2020. Their connection moved quickly: they became engaged during the season and left the show together before it concluded. Tayshia Adams then took over as the season’s lead. ABC’s season 16 account describes their meeting and engagement.
January 2021: their first public breakup announcement
On January 19, 2021, Moss announced that they had decided to separate. ABC quoted his statement: “I wanted to share with you all that Clare and I have decided to go our separate ways.” He described it as “the healthiest decision for both of us at this time.” That was Moss’s public account of the decision.
Two days later, Crawley responded publicly. Bachelor Nation quoted her saying she had learned of the “‘mutual’ statement at the same time you all were” and needed time to take it in. She also said, “Speaking for myself, my intentions with this relationship have always been very clear, so the truth is I am crushed.” Her words express her perspective; the public statements do not provide a complete account of their private conversations.

They reconnected after the announcement
In late January, both spoke publicly about the breakup and the difficulty of moving on. ABC reported that Crawley discussed trying to heal and that Moss said the split had “wrecked” him. Those emotional comments describe how they said they felt, but do not establish a definitive reason for the separation.
A later Bachelor Nation timeline reported that they were seen together after the breakup and that Crawley was wearing her engagement ring again by March. In April, Moss addressed questions about a reconciliation on the Hollywood Raw podcast. ABC quoted him saying, “Clare and I, we’re in a good place, and when the time’s right, we’ll definitely talk about all those things, but for right now, we’re just focused on one another and we’re keeping things private and that’s working for us.” That records what Moss said publicly; it does not establish every detail of their private status.

September 2021: the final split
The January announcement was their first public separation, not the end of the full relationship timeline. ABC’s 2023 retrospective reports that Crawley and Moss ultimately ended their relationship in September 2021.

In its 2023 retrospective, ABC reported that Crawley had married Ryan Dawkins and that Moss offered them well wishes. This is later-life context; it does not change the reported sequence of the couple’s relationship and breakups.
