No—the Cineplex $5 movies and popcorn offer is not on this weekend. The promotion ran September 5–6, 2026, and Cineplex’s official page marks it as ended. A separate Family Favourites event is listed for October 10, but it has different prices and terms.
What the Cineplex $5 weekend included
For September 5–6, Cineplex offered $5 general-admission movie tickets and $5 small popcorn. Premium experiences required an additional surcharge, so the $5 ticket price did not cover an upgrade. Cineplex also said a portion of the weekend’s proceeds would benefit Canadian Picture Pioneers, which supports members of Canada’s motion picture industry. See Cineplex’s $5 Weekend page.
Cineplex announced the promotion on August 31, 2026, under the title “Savour the Last Stretch of Summer with $5 Movies and Popcorn.” Read the Cineplex newsroom announcement.
What Cineplex lists for October 10
Cineplex’s Family Favourites is a separate program, not a continuation of the $5 Weekend promotion. Its page lists an October 10, 2026 event at participating theatres on selected Saturdays. Films and locations may vary, so check the local listing before making plans. Check Cineplex Family Favourites.

How to check current showtimes and the final price
- Open Cineplex’s official showtimes or Family Favourites listing and select your local theatre.
- Confirm the date, film, and whether the event is available at that location.
- Review the price for your purchase method and membership, then check the checkout total for booking fees and tax.
