Later reports said Baumgartner and Connor were dating by January 2024; PEOPLE reported they married in October 2025.
What Baumgartner’s lawyer reportedly said
A Hollywood Life profile reports that Rydell characterized Connor as Baumgartner’s friend and said they were “nothing more than that” during the divorce proceedings. The profile relays the statement; the available material does not include a court transcript or a direct statement from Rydell confirming the wording. It should therefore be treated as reported characterization, not an independently verified quotation from the proceedings.
Baumgartner is Kevin Costner’s former wife. “Christine Costner” in the original headline is marriage-related shorthand; the article’s subject is Christine Baumgartner.

Hollywood Life’s profile also points to later coverage reporting that Baumgartner and Connor were dating by January 2024. That later status does not establish what either person privately felt when the lawyer’s reported characterization was made.

Marriage in 2025

What the timeline does—and does not—show
- During the divorce proceedings: a Hollywood Life profile later attributed the “nothing more than that” description of Connor to Rydell.
- By January 2024: later reporting said Baumgartner and Connor were dating.
- October 18, 2025: PEOPLE reported that they married in Santa Barbara.
The chronology shows that the public description changed over time. It does not, by itself, prove that the earlier reported statement was false or reveal the couple’s private relationship at that point.
