Network 10 announced on 14 November 2023 that Studio 10 would not return in 2024. The daytime talk show’s final episode aired on 22 December 2023, ending a run that began in 2013. Network 10 said the decision followed changing viewing habits in daytime television; reported ratings and wider industry commentary offer context, but are not the network’s stated reason.
When did Studio 10 end?
Hosts Tristan MacManus and Angela Bishop told viewers on 14 November 2023 that the program would not return the following year. Network 10 said its final episode was scheduled for 22 December, and that was the show’s final broadcast date. Mediaweek reported the announcement and final date; PerthNow also reported the program’s final date.
Why was Studio 10 cancelled?
Network 10’s stated explanation was “a change in viewing habits in daytime television,” as quoted in Mediaweek’s report of the broadcaster’s statement. The network also said it planned a new morning lineup and a greater focus on news and current affairs later in the day.
Ratings and industry context
ABC’s Media Watch reported that Studio 10 averaged 20,000–30,000 viewers in Australia’s capital cities during 2023, sometimes falling to 10,000. The program compared that audience with close to 100,000 for Seven’s The Morning Show and Nine’s Today Extra. These figures are those reported by Media Watch, not independently verified ratings data in its segment. ABC Media Watch’s 20 November 2023 report also discussed the broader shift toward streaming, including comments from media newsletter publisher Tim Burrowes. That analysis is context, not a separate official explanation from Network 10.
