It gained reported digital-chart traction after its November 2025 rental-and-purchase release, then became available on Paramount+ in the United States and Canada on December 9. The chart result is evidence of digital performance—not a published Paramount+ ranking or viewing total.
What is the Channing Tatum true-crime movie called?
The film is Roofman, a 2025 comedy-drama starring Tatum as Jeffrey Manchester. Paramount describes Manchester as a former Army Ranger and struggling father who robbed McDonald’s restaurants by cutting holes in their roofs, escaped prison, and hid in a Toys “R” Us for six months. The story also follows his relationship with Leigh, played by Kirsten Dunst. Director Derek Cianfrance co-wrote the film with Kirt Gunn.

Paramount’s official synopsis captures the film’s unusual premise: “A charming fugitive secretly lives inside a Toys "R" Us until he risks it all for love.” Paramount Pictures’ film page provides the studio’s description and credits.
Is Roofman based on a true story?
Yes. The film is based on Manchester’s real case, but it is a dramatization rather than a documentary reconstruction. Associated Press reviewer Lindsey Bahr notes that the movie takes important liberties while depicting events that happened in real life, including Manchester’s prison escape and his six-month stay inside a Charlotte Toys “R” Us. While hiding there, he ate baby food and began attending a local church, where he dated a single mother.

The real events give the premise its foundation; the film shapes them into a comic, romantic crime drama. The Associated Press review discusses the relationship between the movie and Manchester’s story.
Why is it being called a streaming hit?
The strongest specific performance figure comes from the film’s earlier digital release, not a Paramount+ audience report. In a December 3, 2025 announcement, Paramount said Roofman held a top-10 position on Apple’s movie charts for three consecutive weeks after its premium video-on-demand (PVOD) debut on November 11. The announcement does not identify the precise three-week period.

- Blu-ray
That chart claim concerns digital movie charts after a rental-and-purchase release. It does not establish a Paramount+ chart position, a number of streams, or a measured audience total. Paramount’s announcement is the source for both the PVOD date and its reported Apple chart performance: Paramount Press Express, December 3, 2025.

There are three practical ways to look for it, depending on your region and whether you prefer access or ownership:
- Subscription streaming: Check Paramount+ in your territory. The December 9, 2025 launch date applies to the United States and Canada.
- Digital rental or purchase: Paramount identifies November 11, 2025 as the PVOD debut date. Check your preferred digital store for current regional options; Apple’s U.S. Apple TV page lists the title.
- DVD or Blu-ray: Physical editions are another route to check. The UK chart result below supports searching for the disc, but does not guarantee current stock or availability elsewhere.
What does the disc-chart result show?
Roofman placed No. 6 on the UK Official Film On Disc Chart for January 25–31, 2026. The Official Charts Company describes that chart as covering DVD, Blu-ray, and other physical formats, with positions based on a seven-day sales period. It is a UK chart result for that week, not proof of current retailer stock or worldwide disc availability. See the Official Film On Disc Chart for January 25–31, 2026.
