The “mysterious Gravity Falls project” was a celebrity cameo layer in the 2024 interactive campaign for Alex Hirsch’s book The Book of Bill. Charlie Day’s entry was tied to the code “CONSPIRACY,” and Weird Al Yankovic’s to “WEIRD.” The campaign did not announce a third season. In a September 2026 interview, Hirsch said he had never intended to make one.
What was the mysterious Gravity Falls project?
It was an interactive companion experience for The Book of Bill, which was published on July 23, 2024. The book directed readers to the website This Is Not A Website Dot Com, where codes unlocked content, including celebrity videos. Contemporary coverage reported Charlie Day’s contribution under “CONSPIRACY” and Weird Al Yankovic’s under “WEIRD.” The site’s countdown and updates prompted speculation that something larger was coming, but the reported campaign itself was tied to the book.
The official site currently presents a browser-readable shell that requires JavaScript to reveal interactive content. The historic codes above are reported by contemporary coverage; that does not establish that every code or the complete current experience is visible in the browser view.
Did the celebrity appearances announce Gravity Falls season 3?
No. The codes, videos and book tie-in were campaign content; a new season was not announced. An August 2024 article by The Escapist treated a third season as an open question and discussed fan theories, not a confirmed production.

There is now a clearer answer from Hirsch: in a September 22, 2026 interview with CinemaBlend, he said he had never intended to make a third season. He also spoke hypothetically about what making a feature film might require. That discussion is not an announcement that a film is in development.
What Charlie Day and Weird Al said about the book
The publisher’s product page reproduces humorous endorsements from both performers. Weird Al joked that the book was too weird for him, called its contents “horrifying psychosis,” and said he was changing his name to “Normal Al.” Charlie Day took the opposite comic tack, saying he loved it and repeatedly proclaiming, “We love Bill!” These are promotional book endorsements, not statements about a new show or the production of the website.

Which book was connected to the campaign?
The Book of Bill is the direct link to the 2024 website experience. Penguin Random House lists the hardcover at 208 pages, published by Hyperion Avenue on July 23, 2024, ISBN 9781368092203. The ISBN helps distinguish this edition when looking for the book.

The Art of Gravity Falls, by Alex Hirsch and Rob Renzetti, is a separate release, listed by Disney Books and Penguin Random House for September 15, 2026. Its publisher description says it contains more than 2,000 pieces of artwork. It is not the cause of, or confirmation for, the celebrity campaign launched around The Book of Bill in 2024.
