Spoilers for Chainsaw Man Chapter 226. The Locust Devil’s arrival is a bad omen in the limited, narrative sense: it erupts while Denji is vulnerable, interrupts his clash with Yoru, and turns the immediate danger in a new direction. The chapter does not establish that the devil is a prophecy or that it predicts a particular future event. In retrospect, the series is complete, so the strongest reading is about instability in this scene—not a warning that the manga itself was about to end.
What happens in Chapter 226?
VIZ lists Chapter 226 on January 13, 2026, while Shonen Jump+ lists it on January 14, 2026. The one-day difference reflects the platforms’ listing dates. Shonen Jump+ gives the Japanese title as バッタのおうち; a fan-maintained reference renders it as “Locust’s Home,” which should be treated as a translation rather than an official English title. According to the fan-maintained summary, Denji and Yoru are in Hell when a swarm of locusts overwhelms Yoru as Denji is recovering. Asa asks Denji for help; he confronts the Locust Devil, and the fight brings the group back to the human world. That sequence explains why the devil feels like more than a monster-of-the-week interruption: its arrival changes who is in immediate danger and redirects the confrontation. The summary is secondary, so readers seeking exact dialogue or panel order should check the licensed chapter itself.
Why the Locust Devil can feel like a bad omen
It arrives at a vulnerable moment
The swarm strikes while Denji is recovering and Yoru is under attack. That timing makes the encounter feel ominous without requiring a supernatural prediction: the characters’ situation becomes more precarious just as the reader is following an already volatile clash.

It breaks the expected confrontation
Instead of letting the Denji–Yoru conflict proceed uninterrupted, the Locust Devil forces a new threat into the scene. The interruption shifts attention from their contest to survival, then drives the group toward a change of setting. As a piece of pacing, the arrival signals that the scene is unstable and that the characters cannot control its direction.
The metaphor has limits
Nothing in the cited chapter summary or official publication records establishes that the Locust Devil foretells a specific outcome. Calling it a “bad omen” is therefore an interpretation of its timing and effect, not confirmed lore or an authorial explanation. It is fair to say the scene foreshadows more danger in the immediate sense; claiming it predicts the manga’s ending would go further than the evidence supports.

What the chapter’s publication and collection record shows
Chapter 226 is part of the completed series, not a current warning about a manga that was still approaching its conclusion. Shonen Jump+ labels the series completed, VIZ’s chapter list includes Chapter 232, and Shueisha describes Volume 24 as the complete story. Shonen Jump+ · VIZ’s chapter list · Shueisha’s Volume 24 record
Shueisha’s Volume 24 contents include Chapter 226 alongside Chapters 227 through 232. The Japanese S-MANGA catalog lists print and digital editions; its Japanese print listing gives a June 4, 2026 publication date, 176 pages, a price of 572 yen, and ISBN 978-4-08-885051-1. These are details for the Japanese edition and do not confirm that an English-language collected volume containing Chapter 226 is available. S-MANGA’s Volume 24 record
