That countdown makes the threat feel close, but the chapter does not show the Death Devil arriving. Its other immediate danger is more personal: Denji knows Yoru is dangerous and remains with her, before Asa regains control and turns the weapon toward him.
What happens in Chainsaw Man Chapter 194?
In Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Part 2 chapter, Yoshida and Fumiko approach Fami on Public Safety’s behalf and ask her to help with the Death Devil threat. They tell her the devil is expected to descend in one month.
Fami declines. She points to her school festival committee and says she would rather spend her time on enjoyable experiences, food, and people. She finds Denji, Asa, and Yoru more interesting than Yoshida and Fumiko, but that preference does not translate into an offer to help Public Safety.
The chapter also follows Denji’s continued proximity to Yoru. He recognizes the danger he associates with women showing interest in him, yet he stays with her. Near the end, Asa regains control of their shared body and directs the weapon at Denji, renewing the immediate threat between them.

Why does Fami refuse to help Public Safety?
Fami’s refusal is framed around what she wants to do, not a detailed strategic explanation. The school festival and its pleasures matter more to her than Public Safety’s request; she also finds Denji, Asa, and Yoru more engaging company than the officials who came to ask for help. The chapter therefore leaves Public Safety without her assistance, rather than depicting her joining its effort against the Death Devil.
How close is the Death Devil?
According to the warning reported in the chapter, the Death Devil will descend in one month. That is an in-story countdown, not a scene of the devil arriving, and Chapter 194 does not present the identity as a new revelation. The idea that the Death Devil is “closer than anyone thought” is an interpretation of the short timeline.

Why does Denji’s attitude seem concerning?
Denji’s choices suggest a troubling mix of awareness and resignation: he recognizes that Yoru may be dangerous, but continues spending time with her. That is a reading of his behavior, not a diagnosis or a confirmed explanation of his motives. The final turn sharpens the risk: Asa—not Yoru—has control when the weapon is directed at Denji. Asa and Yoru share a body, but the chapter distinguishes whose control has returned.
