The Associated Press also covered global tributes, including messages from King Charles III and el-Sissi. These statements reflected Carter’s standing beyond the United States, particularly as a former president whose public life included diplomacy and humanitarian work. AP’s report gives further examples of leaders’ condolences.
Celebrities and other public figures remember Carter
Actors, musicians and other public figures were also among those paying tribute. The Guardian gathered a selection of these responses, alongside tributes from civic figures. The collection shows the breadth of public reaction, but it is representative rather than a complete record of every statement made after Carter’s death. The Guardian’s roundup covers celebrity and public-figure tributes.

What the tributes recognized
The responses came from different vantage points: fellow presidents reflected on a former colleague and public servant; foreign leaders offered condolences; and entertainers and other public figures shared personal or public remembrances. Taken together, the statements underscored Carter’s long public life and humanitarian reputation, while each tribute remained the perspective of its speaker.
