What remains less defined in the official character profiles is the mystery surrounding her, which is part of what makes her presence so compelling.
What is Makima’s job in Chainsaw Man?
The official TV anime profile identifies Makima as a devil hunter in Public Safety Special Division 4, directly under the Chief Cabinet Secretary. The official anime character profile establishes her place in the government’s chain of authority.
The official Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc character profile describes her as the woman who leads Special Division 4 and as Denji’s superior. In other words, she is not merely a fellow hunter: she has leadership responsibility over the division and direct workplace authority over him. The film’s official character profile confirms both details.
How does Makima meet Denji?
Makima meets Denji while responding to an incident involving the Zombie Devil. Afterward, she recruits him into Public Safety Special Division 4. That encounter links Denji’s new life as a devil hunter to Makima’s organization and places him under her command, according to the official Reze Arc movie profile.

Who voices Makima in the Japanese anime?
Tomori Kusunoki voices Makima in the Japanese TV anime, as credited on the official staff and cast page. Kusunoki wrote that she fell in love with the original work and Makima’s charm, and prayed to a picture of Makima at home until she learned she had passed the audition. She concluded, “I am truly, truly honored.” This is an English rendering of her Japanese statement; the page provides the original wording.

Chainsaw Man was created by Tatsuki Fujimoto. Publication-date references differ by source and context: the Japanese Shonen Jump series page identifies the serialization debut as Weekly Shonen Jump issue 1 of 2019, while VIZ’s English-language series page says serialization began in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2018. Those descriptions should not be treated as the same market or issue marker.
